Today, I’ve accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation to serve as Canada’s Ambassador to the European Union.
I take on this role for the same reason I entered public life: to serve Canada.
Thank you for your trust, your candour, and your belief that we can always do better.

As technology evolves, so must the protections Canadians can count on.
Bill C-36 will strengthen privacy rights, protect children’s data, increase transparency in automated decisions, and give Canadians more control over their personal information - while supporting responsible innovation and economic growth in the digital age.

In an increasingly uncertain world, the G7 remains a force for unity, purpose, and collective action.
In Évian, we’re working together to confront major challenges — from AI to global conflicts — and build a more secure, more prosperous world for all.
Canada has the land, the expertise, and the resources to build one of the most resilient food systems in the world.
This government's new National Food Security Strategy will support farmers, strengthen competition in the grocery sector, increase domestic food production, and help make food more affordable for Canadians.

Canada is one of the world’s great food producers, but our grocery prices don’t show it.
Canada’s new National Food Security Strategy will ensure more food is grown and processed here, and create more competition for retailers — so your grocery bills come down.
More control. More choice. More Canada.
On #WorldOceansDay, we celebrate the waters that sustain our communities, economy, and environment.
The new Mia-yaltwa Ha’lidzogm hoon National Marine Conservation Area Reserve will help protect the Great Bear Sea and advance our goal of conserving 30% of Canada’s waters by 2030.
A healthier ocean means a stronger future for us all.
Our new Mia-yaltwa Ha’lidzogm hoon National Marine Conservation Area Reserve, in partnership with British Columbia and Wuikinuxv, Nuxalk, Kitasoo Xai’xais, Heiltsuk, Gitxaała, and Gitga’at Nations, will protect thousands of kilometres of coastal water — conserving biodiversity, and supporting coastal communities for generations to come.
Canada's natural environment is central to our identity, our economy, and our future. By working together to conserve our lands and waters, reduce emissions, and build a cleaner economy, we can create a more sustainable future for generations to come.
This #WorldEnvironmentDay, let’s renew our commitment to protecting nature and addressing climate change – one depends on the other.
This World Environment Day, as we appreciate the forests, oceans, mountains, rivers, and wildlife that sustain us, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting them. Through Canada’s Strategy to Protect Nature, we’re advancing efforts to protect our lands, waters, and wildlife.
Together, we celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQI+ communities across Canada, while reaffirming our commitment to a country where everyone can live authentically, safely, and with pride.
Happy Pride Season! 🌈
Good public transit connects people to jobs, services, and each other.
That’s why this government is investing in faster, more reliable transit through the new Strong Transit Fund, including $2.57 billion for British Columbia over the next decade.
For communities like North Vancouver–Capilano, long-term transit investments will help support growing neighbourhoods, reduce congestion, and keep people moving.

Indigenous Peoples have been stewards of the lands and waters in Canada since time immemorial.
As we mark National Indigenous History Month, we recognise the rich and diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. https://t.co/9U8fv5OD15
It was a privilege to mark my years in Cabinet and Parliament alongside the friends, colleagues, and dedicated staff who shaped this journey.
Serving Canada on climate policy and building a stronger economy has been among the greatest honours of my career. I look forward to continuing that service as Canada's Ambassador to the EU.
Thank you, my friends.

Merci, mes chers amis.
Wishing @s_guilbeault the very best as he prepares to step away from his role as Member of Parliament for Laurier–Sainte-Marie.
Steven and I had worked closely together over several years – and, in particular, during his tenure as Minister of Environment and Climate Change when I was responsible for Energy and Natural Resources. We were both very committed to working to address the threat of climate change in a manner that also promoted long term economic development.
Thank you for your service my friend. I – and very much my youngest child, who is an admirer - wish you all the best in what comes next.

Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating.
As families and friends gather for prayers, meals and celebration, we also recognize the spirit of generosity and service that is at the heart of Eid al-Adha.
This is a time of faith, sacrifice, compassion and community, and an opportunity to come together with loved ones and support those most in need.
Canada's coastlines and oceans are central to our history, our identity, and our way of life.
With our new Nature Strategy, we’re preserving the biodiversity of BC’s Central Coast — and the wildlife it sustains.
