I honoured an invitation from the International Center for Transitional Justice to serve as a panellist on " The Impact of National and Regional youth policies on youthโs situation: Critical analysis of their Implementation" at the Regional Youth Conference on Youth Participation in Governance, Peacebuilding, and Transitional Justice Processes, held in the Gambia ๐ฌ๐ฒ.
As a panellist, I highlighted that lack of resources and political will are key challenges youth faced in policies implementation, and as well as highlighted regional youth policies in the sub-region of Africa, and the importance of the Africa Youth Charter with emphasis on Article 12; I also noted holistic democratic approaches in the implementation of youth policies drawing scenarios from Liberia ๐ฑ๐ท.
The Conference aims at addressing the challenges of youth participation in transitional justice, governance, and peacebuilding.
By bringing together youths from diverse backgrounds, the conference serve as a platform that foster a culture of cooperation and education on the role of youth in post-dictatorial or post-conflict society, peacebuilding, transitional justice, and governance.
It was nice meeting young people and the AU Transitional Justice Representative.
Let's work together to promote transitional justice, governance, and peacebuilding.
