Muthanna Amin, a Kurdish lawmaker in the Iraqi Parliament, told Channel8 that fearing the suspension of U.S. dollar shipments and further sanctions, Iraq has been obliged to comply with U.S. directives, as the country's economy relies heavily on oil and dollar inflows.
Amin noted that while this reflects “a long-standing governance failure,” reality dictates that Iraq must act carefully to protect its domestic economy from severe risks, surging inflation, a further spike in the exchange rate, or a dollar shortage in markets.
