Apologies for no posts! Currently travelled back home for the hols and the internet is a bit poor. Currently been recording reference to use for stuff tho such as heavy objects (sledgehammers, pickaxes etc) on top of sprint mechanics and more. Hopefully will post New Years!
Went to record reference and I can barely see anything on my camera, guess Ill have to wake up early to record before university. Just going to continue studying and animating tonight then I guess
@TuxedoPato These are amazing! All the unique runs and various speeds and weight etc. Just love seeing your 2D stuff as well honestly. such a cute artstyle for splatoon too!
As the principles of heavy objects with:
Mass - Weight taking into place.
Slower movement - Amount of time taken.
Grounded feet.
Going to try and do 2 examples of light vs heavy pickup just so that I feel im doing certain things and tell the difference.
not as many notes on weight as some principles from last week come over and picking up a weighted object while carrying on to finish my jump so I can have an understanding for my next assignment, picking up a heavy object which is similar to previous lesson with +
Found clean and jerk reference, went with the lightest and heaviest weight.exhaustion takes into place but the first weight taking 29fr when his pelvis is lowest compared to 46-47fr on the heaviest when also hitting the lowest to up
Just keeping things fresh in memory for self +
@Polygonjunkd That’s the issue with videos online is a lot of folks act as if something is heavy, but then it doesn’t actually feel heavy in the reference, I’ve currently got an unopened box of dumbbells that I’m going to use to pickup since that’s relatively heavy ish to be honest
something and more.Unfortunately I cant record myself at the gym because of rules, but a good idea is something like doing something like a light deadlift vs heavy atlas stones etc. You can see the amount of body usage to lift up those things on poses and our body over the object
The ideas for how to animate a heavy lift is how Ill approach my next assignment:
Animate a light box, a relatively easy lift, then a heavy lift, Like a dumbell! The effort - achieve ratio should feel different based on slower movement, how much body percentage is helping lift +
@jjasperfielding This was really insightful seeing how you approach and animate actually! Thank you for taking the time to respond honestly! Also the setting a key on the image frame ref pre determining what pose you want is interesting!
@jjasperfielding@kev_ducky Sorry to interrupt here! find this kind of stuff really useful honestly since I find pose to pose to be a good way for visualising a lot as a student so far!curious as to how often you use pose to pose compared to something like Straight ahead or layered!Apologies for butting in!
@FramesByBlake I tend to take breaks by hour intervals! So work an hour, 15min break to get outside, then come back, and then go to the gym when I can ahahah. Uni lifestyle with assignments is hard but I’ve managed to find a good balance! Thank you so much for your teaching so far jerome!
Rough Pass 1
Going to add a bit more rotation in areas
Would try and add more interesting things but need to get pass the stage of just saying the poses are good enough 4 blocking
Add more rotation and weight shift for the perspective view and then readjust timings to add settle
@FramesByBlake @Polygonjunkd Currently all the keys are on the same frames! No keys are currently mismatched as I like to keep it tidy! I’ll move away from stepped the more I become comfortable most definitely!
