At our annual Overdose Awareness Day event, we recommitted ourselves to the hard work of preventing substance abuse and supporting those suffering from it. We’ve made progress for sure, but we have a long way to go before such events are no longer necessary.

We expanded the eligibility for this exemption so more homeowners could save on their tax bills, knowing that the state will pick up about half the cost to the city. It’s a good deal all around. If you think you are eligible, take advantage of it!

On this July 4, we laid a wreath where three New Bedford residents were killed in Grey’s Raid, in which 4,000 British troops destroyed much of the city’s waterfront. Here with members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which established the memorial at the site.
