@DanielHood4 Grave of the Fireflies hits differently as an adult, in the sense that you realize the tragedy the kids face was entirely preventable, and was solely the tragic result of the older brother's pride
@_kii_kiii_ Hard agree. Objectively good, couldn't stop thinking about it for days afterward. However the experience was absolutely draining, and not in a fun way. The first act of the film practically made me wanna kms on Bear's behalf, the latter portions had me wincing from raw anxiety
@lolcatjunior1@scubacantdrown@coldinchrome I saw an old homeless asian man harass two young asian guys on the train. He kept trying to engage them in conversation, whilst rambling about the DMV for some reason. They both just said nothing, looked down at their phones and pretended he didn't exist for 15 straight minutes.
@OneWordPowerful Bubble Bath (1979)
The soundtrack of this movie rules!
Here's another banger from the lead female vocalist in the movie, Kati Bontovics.

@_StillTheShawn There's a viral tweet going around calling for black genocide (stated in the most pejorative of terms of course). It's become a subject of conversation NOT due to the content of the viral tweet, but the fact that the guy who tweeted it has a bbc fetish. #elonstwitter
@the_gurl_kai@builddachrist Literally the n word has become so egregiously prevalent on this site since Elon took over. I almost never see anything flagged anymore short of someone threatening to kill someone, and even then that's often permissible via memes or oblique references to violence.
@LRH_Superfan Yeah, it was the CEO of american apparel who was outed as a sex predator. But yeah Terry Richardson definitely had a profound influence on the aesthetic now referred to as "indie sleaze"
@Buschcorner@ryansatin I recently found the linkedin profile of a friend I knew in high school. He has since moved to the Netherlands and is now a leader in something like the SAVE EUROPA foundation, or something like that.
I just said "hmm..."🤔
@semitic_jew If you study history from ancient sources, NONE of this is controversial. It's only controversial now because Europeans take umbrage with the suggestion that they owe any of their cultural development to the black races. Ancient Greeks however took this as a matter of fact.
@CrackAmicoRAP The weirdest thing about this guy to me, is that he's a walking contradiction. While he's made a career of racial antagonism, which will very likely lead to his folly, it seems obvious that he lowkey loves black people.
@ani_obsessive A poetic element of the film, completely overlooked, is the fact that Haruomi Hosono, the film's composer, composes a rendition of "Nearer My God to Thee", featured as the Titanic passengers ascend to heaven. His grandfather (who survived) was the sole Japanese passenger.
@AnthonyGSupreme Walk around the UCLA, or USC campus for 5 mins and you'll see with your own eyes it's predominantly white and Asian. Are they complaining about black students being admitted, period?
@sonnysehra Big BIG fan of this album. I worked at a sushi restaurant in downtown LA, and one night the DJ was spinning from Utakata no Hibi. I had to personally go up and give him my warmest regards
@xcowboygeniusx Have you been to an estranged high school friend's wedding?
You maximally say like 10 words to the bride and groom, they're usually flooded with family and more intimate college friends. So you fill the air with small-talk with anyone you know. Hence why this was realistic
@euphoriacentral@IMDb People take pleasure in hating, Twitter is a testament to that. Same dialogue happened with the most recent episode of The Boys. Both thus far the best episodes of their respective season, but collectively hated by twitter keyboard warriors
@brightafia This, having roommates only feeds my anxieties. It stifles the rhythm in which I'm prone to operate. I'm too conscious that someone else is actively/passively observing my daily habits and rituals. And I'm self-conscious of my idiosyncrasies becoming a point of controversy
