@jamestabery @tessleragency Thank you for thinking of me Jim.

@JohnVaillant @billmckibben Exactly, @JohnVaillant. This "grass-roots" afflatus is supplied with its particular stench by talking points manufactured and disseminated to confuse and obfuscate. It is, to paraphrase George HW Bush, a thousand points of darkness.

Among the things that most amaze me about Bill McKibben--who has resolutely covered climate change since the 1980s--is that he hasn't lost his sense of humor.

[Bill McKibben @billmckibben]

My twitter replies today are almost entirely guys with 11 followers explaining to me that the smoke is the result of eco-arsonists setting forests ablaze, and anyway it's always been like this, and also I'm a 'climtard.'
There are moments when Idiocracy seems like a documentary.

[Jordan Fisher Smith @JordanFSmith]

@billmckibben There is something about authoritarian movements that makes the most benighted ignorance and lack of education a matter of pride. In Cambodia, for example, among the people rounded up under the Khmer Rouge, reeducated as farm laborers or killed were those with advanced education

@NBCNews In Florida death is just one moment of bad judgement, one dispute over a parking space or merging on the freeway, away.

Florida Legislature passes a bill allowing individuals to carry concealed loaded weapons without a permit.

Under the bill, people would need to have on them only a valid ID while carrying a concealed weapon. Failure to do so carries a $25 fine. https://t.co/KwgTo6JnsR

@MalOsorio @JoyceCarolOates I am sorry to hear that, but not surprised.

Tech infatuation proposes that everything is better through an LED screen. One thing that isn't is a doctor's physical examination. Here's my reporting about the hidden cost of telehealth. #TELEhealth #medicine

The pandemic made seeing your doctor online normal. Telehealth companies will connect you with a physician who functions like a rideshare driver--you may never see them again. Here's my investigation of what's wrong with that. https://t.co/17J1N5v5iQ #healthcarenews #medicine

@EyaSpectre @JenniferMolidor @EyaSpectre I was aboard a sailboat in Raccoon Strait, where the water gets turbulent during tidal action between Angel Island and the Tiburon Peninsula. This was a long time ago when I was a kid.

@andrea_wulf Hearty congratulations, Andrea! Rest well.

Just talked to my friend Ben Kaufman of the Yonder Mountain String Band (on left, with tongue in his mouth). They just found out they've been nominated for a Grammy. I can think of few more deserving than this hard-working, very entertaining band. @YonderMountain #GrammyAwards

The little recycling symbol on those plastic containers you've been putting in your recycling bins: Only 5 percent of them are recycled. And plastic is oil. Buy bulk goods, glass and cans when you are able.

[The Boston Globe @BostonGlobe]

Of the 51 million tons of plastic waste US households produced in 2021, just 2.4 million tons (5 percent) were recycled, new research shows.

The findings show that plastic recycling is a “myth,” says the analysis by environmental nonprofit @greenpeaceusa. https://t.co/sWiJjsJzCh

@jasondovemark My wonderful editor at Houghton Mifflin, Deanne Urmy, pushed me away from present tense in early drafts of NATURE NOIR, and I am very grateful. I remember her saying it really bugged her.
