I’m a protected veteran with a 30% service-connected disability. I receive medical and vision care, but no dental coverage. Meanwhile, my neighbor, an immigrant, has access to subsidized housing, comprehensive healthcare, caregiver payments for elderly parents, and even mortgage assistance. It’s hard not to feel the imbalance. Veterans who sacrificed health, time, and family for this country are often left navigating gaps in basic care, while others receive a breadth of support. I don’t blame immigrants; but I do question a system that seems to forget those who paid the highest price for this Country.
