My pictures of #CryoEM equipment got featured in the #immunematters@ljiresearch and on the blog! I am so happy to contribute to scientific communication! More photos are available here: https://t.co/SSNvdQbIVW @thermosciEMSpec
Some scientific illustrations become memes*, some turn into cultural icons.
It requires a combination of originality, aesthetic, simplicity and scientific accuracy.
Here are some of them 🧵

*memes in the original sense: units of cultural inheritance that replicate and evolve
Have you ever noticed how nature seems to love symmetry?🔺🟥🔴
Evolution has literally trillions of shapes to pick from, and yet, biological structures often show symmetry and simplicity.
This is the story of the discovery that completely changed how I see biology. 🧵
I made this figure out of my fascination with protein architectures. I call it "Molecular Machinery of Life." Thought to share it with you to enjoy your eyes. Can you detect, by heart, the Nobel Prize-Winning structures? @AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter
@Szostak_Group@ChemicalScience@wenchao558 The graphical abstract is spot on. In particular, the reaction arrow with the smooth transition into a curved segment and the catalytic cycles. That's a new development in the recent rise of the catalytic cascade reaction arrow style, I think.
After a rocky start 'a rocky start' is surging ahead but still hope for fettered fullerenes! Sadly knot going to be our year apparently, but great to be reminded of such wonderful science (& art) from @mvdelius@ribas_xavi@GloriusFrank & @MutschlerLab in @NatureChemistry!
