On the one hand I’ve never been comfortable with the fanatical anti-sportsball extreme - because some of smacks of insecurity, and I believe in recognizing/respecting excellence even in many of its minor/inconsequential forms…

On the *other* hand, these extremists tend to be completely correct, broadly speaking - the effect of sport on western mankind has been the equivalent of some insidious poison.. allowing grown men to live vicariously through foreigners *purchased* from other nations, and pretend this is ‘patriotism’.. while their homelands are destroyed, their testosterone plummets, their people disappear, and many of them can’t even so much as throw a ball anymore.

The energy formerly directed toward great kith and kin heroes fighting for meaningful purpose on the battlefield is now pointed at some fellow with a name we can’t pronounce freshly imported from some place most couldn’t find on a map.. it’s all so absurd, and so obviously unnatural/unhealthy.
