The US is Australia's biggest export market for pharmaceuticals. If the tariffs go ahead, manufacturing could suffer. @JosephCarrello@unimelb https://t.co/7gCRIyE3x5
@metrotrains Also really poor communication- was standing on the train for 20 mins plus with only the odd muffled announcement that I couldn’t understand- then told to disembark and find alternative transport to the city!
🚨 New research funded by @TAPPCentre shows that reducing childhood overweight and obesity by just 5% could save Australia over $7 billion! 💰 Effective prevention strategies are crucial. Read more: https://t.co/sa3GWidDAD

@younggourmet Then using a micro-simulation model estimated the difference in long term costs and health health outcomes (QALYs) if these adolescents received the hypothetical intervention compared to if they did not receive the intervention
@younggourmet We applied the intervention to a nationally representative cohort of Australian adolescents for which we had individual level data, sourced from the longitudinal study of Australian children (LSAC)
Many thanks to my PhD supervisors and co-authors Prof Alison Hayes @alihayes333 , A/Prof Tom Lung and Prof Louise Baur. And thanks to @TAPPCentre for the financial support for this project
In this paper we have demonstrated that ehealth interventions for adolescent overweight and obesity have very good cost-effectiveness potential and suggest they should be considered by healthcare administrators to support and expand current weight management services in Australia
Recently our President @PHarrismusings and committee members Amelia Berner and Irina Kamychnikova penned an excellent article calling for action to bridge the gap in food security and inequity- read it here https://t.co/aKkcp4gBPD
Was a pleasure to present some of my PhD research on lifetime costs and health outcomes of overweight and obesity in Australian young adults at the Preventive Health conference in Brisbane. Thanks to @_PHAA_ and @TAPPCentre for putting on a great event #Prevention2022
These results are a call for action for investment in policies and programs which aim to prevent development of overweight and obesity in this demographic, which has the fastest growing rates of overweight and obesity in Australia
Additionally, those with overweight and obesity accrue greater healthcare costs over their lifetime, peaking at approximately $40000 for those with obesity by 68 years of age and $42000 for those with overweight by 78 years of age
Excited to be presenting in person again, outlining the lifetime costs and health outcomes of overweight and obesity in Australian young adults #Prevention2022
Congratulations to Tara Guckel, Belinda Belhatchet, Nurhira Abdul Kadir and Patricia Fleming(not pictured) who were our recipients for the PHAA preventive health conference scholarships, currently being held in Brisbane. We hope you are enjoying the conference! #Prevention2022
