BREAKING: AfriForum is questioning why South Africa is supporting a slower and more expensive satellite internet option over Starlink.

• AfriForum filed a formal information request seeking details on how BrainSAT and its UAE partner, Space42, were selected.

• The Thuraya-4 service reportedly offers speeds of only up to 1 Mbps, while Starlink averages around 241 Mbps with much lower latency.

• A 10 Mbps YahClick plan costs R2,033 per month with a 150GB soft cap and roughly 720ms latency. Meanwhile, uncapped Starlink plans in neighbouring countries start below R500 per month.

He mocked Italy’s Meloni, called UK’s Starmer weak, and brushed off NATO chief Rutte’s flattery. Loyalty, he says, matters more than money.

Allies wouldn’t open bases for U.S. strikes or help secure the Strait of Hormuz. That refusal has hardened Trump’s long-standing NATO skepticism.

The Pentagon has already cut U.S. brigade combat teams in Europe and reduced available jets and warships. A six-month review of American forces is underway.

Trump wants Europe spending 5% of GDP on defense and is still eyeing Greenland. His grudge could speed up a broader U.S. military pullback.
