Joe Root just hit 160. Great. He’s tied with Ponting at 41 tons. Fantastic. But let’s be real: Root is playing a different game than Steve Smith. 🙄

While Root spent the last two years racking up hundreds on flat tracks to fix his stats, Smith just walked into the SCG and:

• Passed Sir Don Bradman for the most runs ever scored against England (5,085!).

• Passed Jack Hobbs to become the #2 Ashes run-scorer of all time.

• Hit his 37th century in fewer innings than Sachin Tendulkar.

Root is a master of volume, but Smith is the master of destruction. Root scores runs when the sun is out; Smith scores runs to break English hearts and rewrite the history books. 🇦🇺

You can keep your "consistent accumulation." I’ll take the man who only has the Don left to catch.
