A six month CBS investigation found no evidence that California’s highest in the nation gas prices are the result of price gouging, as state politicians have repeatedly claimed. Instead, the investigation found those prices are largely the result of California’s own policies.

Let that sink in. For years Gavin Newsom and California Democrats blamed oil companies for $8 gas. They accused them of gouging consumers. They launched investigations and threatened new regulations. And after six months of digging, CBS found the truth - it is Newsom’s own policies that caused the crisis.

And here is what Newsom will never admit.

California Democrats created this disaster with their environmental regulations, their taxes on fuel, their mandates on refineries, and their war on American energy. They passed law after law designed to punish oil companies and make gas more expensive - and then acted shocked when gas became more expensive. CBS confirmed what every honest person already knew - the high prices are the direct result of Newsom’s policies, not corporate greed. Newsom lied. California Democrats lied.

They needed a villain to blame so they pointed at oil companies while ignoring the fact that their own regulations destroyed affordability. This is what Democrat governance looks like - blame everyone else for problems you created.
Newsom wants to be president but he cannot even manage gas prices in his own state. He has the worst homelessness in America, the highest taxes, businesses fleeing, crime exploding, and now even CBS is exposing his lies about gas prices. California pays $8 while Texas pays $3 for the same gallon. The difference is not corporate greed - the difference is Republican governance versus Democrat destruction. President Trump unleashed American energy and gas was affordable. Biden and Newsom declared war on oil and gas became unaffordable. Cause and effect. CBS proved it. Newsom’s policies are the reason Californians suffer. That is who he is. That is who he has always been.

Consumer Watchdog says gas price gouging is happening across California, and blames Gavin Newsom for not regulating refineries

They also spoke with an expert on the industry at UC Berkeley who confirmed clear price gouging is happening in California and it’s being allowed

“Drivers reacting to San Francisco gas prices that are going for, yes, $6.57 a gallon for regular unleaded at this Chevron station, $5.96 on average in San Francisco. The Bay Area is paying close to $2 more than the national average for gasoline, which is absurd.”
