Our response to the announcement made by Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting at the NHS Providers Conference:
'Sickness absence, driven by burnout and staff shortages, is a hidden driver of the shocking rise in the NHS’s staff agency spend. It’s grossly unfair to workers who have been under extreme pressure, and costly for the NHS, with patients suffering as a result.
As well as increasing workforce numbers overall there needs to be far better support for the existing workforce. Improving access to occupational health services, including physiotherapy, would help keep staff fit for work, reduce agency costs, and ultimately improve patient care.
It's vital that the government focuses on the causes of the agency spend as much as the cost itself.'
John Cowman, chief executive of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Interesting session with the reps this week looking at the Traceo Twist Plus traches as alternative options for our patients in Critical Care. Lots of positives.
