Journalists Against Poverty is an independent organization which uses media advocacy to fight the scourge of poverty, corruption & underdevelopment in Nigeria.
@kenkenlewu This is a manifestation of poverty in Nigeria. Unfortunately, the people in the corridors of power cannot see or feel what the downtrodden masses are passing through on a daily basis. They are living in denial. @aonanuga1956
I was at a POS stand this evening when an elderly man, probably in his 70s, came to withdraw โฆ1,000.
He asked the POS lady to speak with his son, who transferred the money immediately.
She counted โฆ900 and handed it to him.
The old man said softly, โThe charge is usually โฆ50, not โฆ100.โ
But the woman snapped, โBaba, abeg no stress me. Na โฆ100 charge for โฆ1k.โ
The man looked devastated. You could tell he had already calculated what that โฆ950 would buy, and that extra โฆ50 meant everything.
I stepped in and told the POS lady to give him โฆ10,000.
Omorโฆ the old man laid flat on the ground and held my legs ๐ญ

The level of profligacy & corruption at the Federal & State levels is humongous. The cost of governance is outrageous. This is why hefty FAAC allocations have little impact on the citizens. Public officials enjoy long convoy of vehicles costing millions of dollars imported from Japan. Meanwhile, the citizens are wallowing in multi-dimensional poverty. There are thousands of jobless aides on the payroll doing nothing. The country is in a mess.
FCT Minister Wike did not drink water from his own newly commissioned โultra-modernโ Karu Water Supply Network in Abuja.
This same water network is meant to provide drinkable water to the people who live in that area.
If a politician can not drink water he wants the people to drink, do you see how insane and demonic Nigerian leaders are?
This is not a surprise. Colonial powers are always anti-people. They shower praises on stooge governments which derive sadistic joy by imposing economic hardship on their own citizens. Between 2023 & 2026, the reality is that Nigeria 's economy has been severely battered. The national currency (Naira) has lost its value. There is hyperinflation & multi-dimensional poverty. Enough of media propaganda signifying nothing. If the economy is in good shape, what is the unofficial Govt "spokesperson" doing in the UK ? Nigerians are tired of endless deception.
It is really very sad that many public schools (primary & secondary) do NOT have perimeter fence. This is the first line of protection against banditry & terrorism. Schools in rural communities are worse. What is happening to hefty State & LG allocations? Where does the money ๐ฐ go?

Dangote needs competition in his oil business, if not we shall keep buying fuel expensive.
Since other refineries cannot work and compete, is ok to allow imports to be the competition.
Today Brent Crude is $69 and Dangote gantry price is still 1175. Last time crude was $70, gantry was less than 800 per litre.
The price of crude oil has dropped to $71 dollars in the global market. However, fuel is still being sold at over #1,200 per litre in Nigeria. Now that the US/Israeli war against Iran has ended, there is NO justification for selling fuel at exorbitant price. Fuel price should revert to the pre-war rate of #800. Nigerians are always being exploited. Enough is enough. @AlikoDangote, @DangoteGroup, @DangoteRefinery@NGRPresident, @NigeriaGov
The suspension of Mike Abu Ozekhome from the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the LPPC is a right step in the right direction. The suspension is based on allegations of forgery. How did Ozekhome become "Tali Shani" ?
Apart from Ozekhome, the judiciary (both the bar & the bench) needs thorough fumigation due to endemic corruption & malfeasance. There are too many rotten eggs in the judicial arm of govt. In several cases, there is outright perversion of justice. Rogue politicians have hijacked the judiciary because of their desperation for power. Some members of the bar including so-called SAN collect huge bribes on behalf of the bench. The situation is very scandalous. Election tribunals have become cesspool of corruption. We cannot continue like this.
