Everyone who goes to my dentist has been urged to get tested for HIV. If I have it and have to disclose this to a future partner, I’m going to sound so full of shit. “No no—I’m not a heroin user. I didn’t even have unprotected sex. The lady who does my Invisalign hates cleaning.”

Someone gave a testimony in my church about hitting a big contract at work and that same night, he was robbed in his house, he came back to church the next sunday, gave another testimony while emphasizing that there was a thief within the congregation.
For about a decade, Shay Taylor-Allen walked the halls of Yale New Haven Hospital as a janitor.
Soon, she’ll walk the halls of the hospital again — this time wearing a white coat, after matching into an anesthesiology residency. https://t.co/x1rLx4UHip
My friend @Lupita_Nyongo has started #MakeFibroidsCount to raise critical funds for fibroid research. Fibroids affect up to 8 out of 10 women by age 50! And like so many women’s health issues, this disease is under-funded, under-researched and under-diagnosed. Donate today to support research and learn more at https://t.co/scY3IL50JC.

...leaders should consider. Effective analysis does not overwhelm decision-makers. It distills complexity, highlights implications, and supports timely action.
In many public and nonprofit organizations, leaders are often presented with more data than they can realistically use. What is frequently missing is clarity on which decisions the data is meant to inform, how indicators connect to strategic priorities, and what tradeoffs ....
Another scam people have normalised is capitalists selling five pots with lids and calling it a 10-piece cookware set, because apparently lids have suddenly started counting as separate cookware.

I’ve just watched Joey Barton dismiss AFCON as a "minor tournament" because of Morocco's finals drama, and honestly, this is a familiar pattern.
Africa is judged harshly using incidents that happen everywhere else.
Let me ask:
Did Copa América 2024 stop being a major tournament because the Argentina vs Colombia final in Miami was delayed 82 minutes after fans without tickets stormed the stadium?
Did Brazil vs Argentina (World Cup Qualifier, 2023 at Maracanã) stop mattering because violent clashes delayed the kickoff and Argentina’s players briefly left the pitch?
Did Euro 2016 in France stop being a major competition because of violent clashes involving England and Russia fans in Marseille, delaying kickoff?
Did England vs Bulgaria (Euro 2020 qualifier, 2019) stop being a real competition after the match was halted twice due to racist abuse?
Of course not.
So why is Africa treated differently?
What Morocco did was wrong, 100%.
That issue should be addressed by CAF and judged as Morocco’s responsibility, not Africa’s.
AFCON was hosted successfully in the Ivory Coast (2023/24).
Other African countries have hosted before, and it worked just fine.
The next AFCON is coming to East Africa, and it will speak for itself.
Africa doesn’t need permission.
Africa doesn’t need to explain its dignity.
Those who respect Africa are welcome.
Those who don’t will keep watching Africa anyway.
Dr. Gladys West, the Black mathematician whose brilliance made GPS possible, has passed at 95. Born on a Dinwiddie County farm during the Great Depression, she overcame segregation to become a scientist and map the world—literally. May we never forget her legacy or the path she paved for generations of mathematicians.
Truly for me, the one thing I want to unlearn is over extending myself, putting myself in a place of discomfort for the comfort of others. There’s no reward for that thing, except self loath
I realized people only like you when you're easy to benefit from. When you say yes, stay quiet, and let things slide, they love you. But once you start saying no, setting boundaries, and standing on what's right for you, everything changes. Suddenly you
got an attitude. Suddenly you're the problem. Truth is, they never respected you, they just liked your silence. I'm not being difficult, I'm being real. If me protecting my peace offends you, that's your issue, not mine.
If you self isolate when things get incredibly tough.
And you push everyone away.
It’s because you had to pull yourself out of every dark place alone.
Because you never knew what it was like to be supported.
Because the only person you had to rely on was you.
Because no one ever had your back.
If you understand this I’m truly fucking sorry.
I hate when people say, “Someone out there probably has it worse.” How is that supposed to help me? Just because someone else has bigger problems doesn’t invalidate my own problems and trauma, nor does it make mine go away. My pain isn’t a competition.
