Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is 36 years old today.
Tom Stoppard was given a $1M bonus as an uncredited writer for Last Crusade, Spielberg said he's responsible for most of the dialogue. 'Happens to me all the time.' is one of my favourite lines from all the Indy movies.
HEAT was released 29 years ago this week. Acclaimed as one of the great crime thrillers of the 1990s, and the film that brought Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on screen together, the making of story will walk out on you in 30 seconds flat…

A world in which Tom’s government dismantled the criminal justice system through a decade of defunding, leaving our prisons overflowing.
It is also the world in which Tom’s own government released 10,083 criminals onto our streets, for the very same reasons.
Ten years ago wood burning stones were all the range in the UK. Turns out they are a disaster…

I’ve seen a confidential document from Lynton Crosby’s lobbying firm which advises Boris Johnson to ride roughshod over every convention and standard of propriety to pack the House of Lords.

This is the end of the argument.
Ironically, it is the absurd GB News having to endure this masterclass in simply articulated, balanced, fact-based, expertise.
If you believe any other version of events, good luck tying your shoelaces this morning.
John Keefe of Eurounnel says actual service running well but: “Everyone has to realise there are now different types of border controls so the time it takes to get through the border is longer- that’s a function of the UK being a third country to the EU.” https://t.co/uvvSc8x4rE
Last week Boris Johnson told MPs he met Russian oligarch and ex-KGB officer Alexander Lebedev without officials present. Here's 9 mins on what we know about Boris Johnson and the Lebedevs. Produced by Mary Fuller, Tom Brada and Michael Cox. https://t.co/U3TTrN0vEA
I’m struggling with the idea of “decent Tories” today. They all propped up the disgraced prime minister for far too long. They defended him. They held onto their jobs claiming they were personally indispensable to some project or other. They only moved when the wind changed.
Johnson should not be allowed to stay a minute beyond the decision to go. Caretaker should be appointed. He should not be allowed to use Chequers to write books at our expense. He should not be allowed to deliver resignation honours to put more spies, crooks, donors in the Lords
I've worried that the end, when it came, couldn't do justice to the awfulness of Johnson, that history would 'let off' him & his facilitators. But here we are. They'll writhe & deny & pretend there's some sort of legacy but we know - & history will attest - that he's an arsonist.
Amidst the buffoonery, carnival and pantomime Boris Johnson is distracting us from just how serious the next five years will be for Britain: recession, fuel prices, inflation, and a more dangerous world than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
No more clowns.
It's a good moment to remind people of the 7 Nolan principles of standards in public life (how politicians, civil servants, charity trustees etc are bound to act in public roles)
1 Selflessness.
2 Integrity.
3 Objectivity.
4 Accountability.
5 Openness.
6 Honesty.
7 Leadership
They wouldn't do that, would they?
Oh yes they would.
New developments cast new light on another absolute horror story.
It will make you gasp at the sheer destructive idiocy of it all.
