Over the weekend, shutdown-hampered @StateDept comms replied to my comment request: "Repeated prosecutions amount to target oppression and undermine both @PaiviRasanen's religious freedom and her right to freedom of expression." Legal defense assisted by @ADFIntl @ADFLegal

In yet another escalation of Europe's war on free speech, Finland's supreme court considers whether to punish a bishop and member of parliament for quoting the Bible. Lower courts cleared them of all charges.

@jstewartIndy Um instead of licensing them they should be deported. Trust corporate to come up with the dumbest possible “solution.”

My first car cost $1,500 and insurance as a new driver was $25/month (my brother’s was $50/month). $20 to fill up. The cost of these for my 16yo today is at least triple. Other parents recently advised us to wait for a license until 18 due to costs.

“You have so many problems with insurance, in large part, by the way, also related to mass uncontrolled migration with tons of illegal drivers on the roads, which cause insurance costs to just go way up....It's not just about the kids not wanting to get out there and do things. There are also some pretty serious structural issues that the adults have caused problems with as well” -@MZHemingway

Florida’s Angie Nixon becomes the latest Democrat Senate candidate to pledge support for packing the Supreme Court. Tells Politico she “absolutely” supports the radical proposal.

NEW: James Comey has been charged with two counts of leaking national defense information in 2016:

The Somali defense minister has released a statement in support of Ilhan Omar: "We share the same ethnicity, blood, and religion. She is one of our own."

@FDRLST I wouldn’t take my kids to the Cheesecake Factory because that would cost us a week’s worth of groceries—to them eating out anywhere, even to get ice cream at Culver’s, is a rare treat.

[The Federalist @FDRLST]

“[Democrats] have done much more poorly with those voters. And Barack Obama himself seems to care so much about elite opinion, which is how that design happened in Chicago. That's the kind of design for his museum that elitists think is really beautiful and is actually not. And so I think that this is another issue that Democrats have to think about, if they're going to be actually for the working man or not.” @MZHemingway

[Jim Geraghty @jimgeraghty]

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar writes in her memoir, “I was eight years old when civil war broke out in Somalia. One day everything was okay, and the next, there were bullets piercing not only buildings but also people.” While Somalia has suffered several civil wars, the chapter is entitled, “War: 1989-1991, Mogadishu, Somalia.” Mogadishu experienced severe riots in July 1989, including a mass execution that became known as the “Jazeera beach massacre.”

If, in her own words in her own autobiography, Omar was eight when this occurred in 1989, then she was born in 1981, and was 19 years old in the year 2000, when her father purportedly obtained his citizenship, not 1982 as she currently claims.

@MrMaitra Must be a politician! 😂

My children wake up and immediately start practicing piano and cello while waiting for breakfast. It drives me insane but I can’t complain because practicing is good and makes them better. 🤦🏼‍♀️

[Joy Pullmann @JoyPullmann]

And if you maintain high expectations for American kids, their parents revolt and move them to an easier school so they can get no-work straight As and stop dealing with their kids’ tantrums over moderately hard homework.

Striking detail in the big NYT piece on Taiwanese families adjusting to working at the huge new TSMC chip plant in Arizona: their surprise at the lack of rigor in US schools.

[Jeffrey A Tucker @jeffreytucker]

A husband and wife with four kids will spend $3-4,000 and more per month on medical insurance now, and it buys nothing but the right to pay more when you actually use it. This is an outrage. More outrageous, there is hardly any political talk about this fixing this problem even though the fix is readily at hand. Unsustainable.

From two years to four?

.@DrOzCMS on fraud: "We've already stopped $50B from leaving Medicare or Medicaid — just that alone could double the life of the Medicare Trust Fund."

@toottootchoo @rachelbovard @OmahaLibrary How is a flyover city like Omaha controlled by antisocial Democrats?

[Joy Pullmann @JoyPullmann]

@rachelbovard I stopped taking my kids to the library after 2020 because my baby found a tranny princess book while surveying the shelves. I just order books on hold and get them while ignoring the woke shit displays that are now there 24/7. Red state, red area, commie libraries.

Nearly 1 in 5 prime-age men aren’t working full-time. The usual story: de-industrialization. The untold story: demoralization:

✅ ~800K open jobs in manufacturing, construction, mining, etc
✅ Nonworking men: ~5.5 hrs/day on videos, gaming & porn
✅ 1 in 4+ idle men use marijuana regularly

Too many men are demoralized by our "addiction economy" which renders them unable to embrace many of the jobs available in today's economy. @KeithNHumphreys & Brent Orrell @TheAtlantic https://t.co/sdWilfNwdS
