Saddened to hear of JoJo White's untimely passing. He was the most gracious and stylish of Celtics and a model champion, both in the NBA and atop Olympus.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Terribly sorry to hear about Dick's passing. A most gracious gentleman who was universally and deservedly beloved. Deepest condolences to Barb and his family.

Kirui's unofficial margin 21 seconds over Rupp, with Osako another 30 behind. Rupp's time 7 seconds faster than his Olympic medal time.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui wins 121st Boston Marathon in 2:09:37, first Kenyan victory since Wesley Korir in 2012. Rupp second.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Rupp closing on Kirui on Boylston.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui turning onto Hereford Street all by himself. Laurel wreath awaits.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Only a monster pothole can stop Kirui now.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Heading into Kenmore Square, Kirui seems destined for victory.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui still in control at 40 kilometers. Rupp 16 seconds back.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui has only two previous marathon finishes. Was third in Rotterdam last April in 2:07:23.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Only three men in sight. Kirui, Rupp and Osako.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

12 second gap at 24 miles. If Rupp has another response, it needs to come soon.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui opening up, 50 yards in the clear. Looks smooth and easy.

[John Powers @Jpowizglobe]

Kirui pulling away at 23 miles as pace quickens. Rupp needs to keep contact because Kirui has track speed, too.
