Way to support your customers during a pandemic @Macys. Was planning to head Macy’s this weekend to select a replacement, but I will be taking my business elsewhere, now and in the future.
Just had the WORST experience with @Macys customer service. Ordered a sofa during lockdown when stores were closed. Told by TWO sales people they would waive the restocking fee if I needed to return, since there was no way to see the item. Just told “sorry that’s not possible.”
@jessicavitalis @TracyAbell But then you get people who think “Oh, you’re not dyslexic if you don’t have trouble reading” but I had all kinds of other issues: Couldn’t tell time, couldn’t tell left from right, etc. There’s really no “one size fits all.”
@jessicavitalis @TracyAbell Yeah, I remember being in elementary school and because my parents told the teacher I was dyslexic, they put be in the lowest reading group. The first time I read out loud they were like: “Um, I think you’re in the wrong group” and immediately bumped me to the highest level. 😂
@jessicavitalis @TracyAbell Got it. I guess I’ve never read anything where a dyslexic character was portrayed that way. The books I’ve read (like Fish in a Tree) have all seemed fairly positive. But they do usually show the dyslexic character not being able to read well. Which I don’t identify with.
@jessicavitalis @TracyAbell Just curious: what would you consider a false stereotype? I think with something like dyslexia, how it manifests could just be very different from person to person. For example, I’m dyslexic, but I never had any trouble with reading.
So excited to announce that my debut novel To Conquer Pride is now available in audiobook—narrated by the phenomenal Stevie Zimmerman!

Totally gobsmacked to see my debut novel To Conquer Pride on this list alongside so many of my favorite Austenesque authors. Thank you so much @JanetBTaylor1 for including me! ❤️ https://t.co/2AMTZi54VX
So glad @lordandtaylor has sent my complaint to their “management team.” Yesterday. I guess if it takes an hour to transfer a call, it must take a week for someone to actually call you back. Time to start shopping at Bloomingdales.
Just called @lordandtaylor customer support. Rep completely clueless. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told the supervisor was “very busy.” I said I’d hold. Rep: “Okay, I’ll transfer you. This should take about one hour.” W.T.F.

@jennybent@stefwass Here’s one for the not-published-yet crowd: “Are you still working on that book? You’d better hurry up or someone will steal your idea.” 🙄
Okay, a question for the writing/editing folks: Can “startled” be used as an intransitive verb (e.g. as a synonym for “started”)? For example: “The door banged open and Emily startled.” Correct? Incorrect? Go!
