Going through Trump speeches to update our database. He tells audiences the opioid bill passed "very little Democrat support." The vote was 98 to 1, with only Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R) opposing it. The House passed it 393 to 8. Even a rare bipartisan achievement can't be celebrated?
Dominican friar Savonarola (1452-98) became ‘moral dictator’ of Florence. He denounced jokes, frivolity, poetry, inns, sex, homosexuality, fashion & art. When he was burnt to death in 1498, one magistrate was heard to remark “Thank God. Now we can return to our sodomy.”
This Trump-Kanye exchange, after Ye talked for 10 straight minutes:
TRUMP: “I tell you what that was pretty impressive. That was quite something.”
KANYE: "It was from the soul. I just channeled it.”
@PhilipRucker@Olivianuzzi Read chapter 40 of Heller’s Catch-22. This scene in the Oval Office resembles the scene when Cathcart and Korn insincerely try to convince Yossarian “to like” them.
@maggieNYT@PhilipRucker@Olivianuzzi The behavior of Trump and his cohorts here reminds me of Col Korn and Col Cathcart in Ch 40 of Heller’s Catch-22, where they insincerely try to get Yossarian “to be their pal.”
Little reminder that a week ago news broke that the President and his family committed something like a half billion dollars in tax fraud, and its not even news any more.
If a President has to be at least 35 years old, a Senator at least 30, and a Rep. at least 25, all because they may not be mentally mature enough to handle the positions, why should there not be an age cap?
I'd trust the mental capacity of a 30 yr old over a 84 yr old any day.
