@hardyrenos It would have been better to spend the $3.2 billion to start building even more condos right next door. "You say you're just going to hang on to all those empty condos, eh? Really?"
@Suzierizzo1 Imagine thinking Amy Coney Barrett's adopted children would have greater loyalty to visiting Haitians than to the integrity of the American legal system?
@wil_da_beast630 It's fine if English is an official language of said country, is my take. (How would you feel if the USA renamed itself "The Republic of America" and no-one else played along?) But that's not applicable for Turkey. (I met a Turkish expat in Canada who called it Turkiye, fwiw!)
@CElder556@wil_da_beast630 You said the H-1B program was a "scam" because qualified Americans "exist" for these jobs. But all an employer can do is try in good faith to find them and hire them, and that's all they have to certify. Which means there's no scam after allโan important distinction.
Is AC actually good for healthy people? I have no doubt it can save the lives of the sick and elderly, but does long term exposure to AC make us all less resilient?
@2and20YT@Dave_Eby Besides, what's the cost of construction in this case... Was it arm's length, or does it represent how much the developers "paid themselves" to build the condos?
@CElder556@wil_da_beast630 The employer must certify they took *good faith steps* to recruit an American *for at least the same wage*, not that "no qualified American exists for the job" as you previously stated (certifying *that* would indeed be a scam). No need to be a prickly individual.
