the party establishment would rather lose to the republicans if it cements their place in the american political system.
it’s patently clear that americans are suffering with runaway food and fuel prices. cost of living is everything to voters but instead of focusing on this and trying to regain power to make a meaningful difference everyday americans they would rather focus on a twitch streamer on the left of the party, taking comments her days out of context or straight up fabricating to defend their positions on a country of 5m people 4,000 miles away openly committing genocide.
these people care about their own power and influence than doing anything to help regular americans that are struggling. fdr would be rolling in his grave!
the energy she omitted was so cold and dark-sided. re-watching clips of her and how she was towards sutton and they are worse than i remembered. how the majority of the cast took her side and supported her was was wild. she’s clearly a sociopath and is one of a kind for that in housewives’ world.
“you gonna butt head me?”
i suspect angela will be willing to go clean slate with shamea. angela made her point this season and she knows how to play the game of housewives, conflict resolution at the right time. also angela seems genuinely (rightly) more disgruntled with kelli, with whom her attention will lie next season undoubtedly.
@LegendaryTurban there is something very nasty and pernicious about kelli’s spirit. it may be an attempt to ‘read’ but it comes off as just horrible and below the belt comments.
she’s hypocritical as well asking for grace and empathy from the other woman whilst giving none herself…
@mattyglesias why are you and so many other dems focused on a guy that streams on the internet? why isn’t everyone’s focus on electing democrats and flipping the senate and flipping the senate to put some breaks on trump?
it’s all comes back to what was clear a few months ago; he cannot accept the fact that he lost the war and is now recycling through all the different options he’s employed before and hoping one will magically work this time.
the only way he will stop this mad merry-go-round is an iranian escalation that crashes the global economy and even then he would he stop and accept reality?!
@3210nemo0123@BrettErickson28 do you have any evidence that iran trying to hit ‘all vessels’? if that is the case why isn’t it being reported? what proof do you have that their capabilities are ‘severely degraded’?
but kushner is a representative of trump and the sitting government. he negotiates and forms american foreign policy decisions and diplomacy.
do i agree that its very opaque how he’s been given this brief or that (like witkoff) is wholly unqualified for the role(s) they hold? absolutely. but that is the power the president of the united states of america has.
a pointed example of false equivalence here. he is a representive of the current us government meeting with the government’s of other sovereign nations. the democrats are the rival party of the republicans who want to oust the gop.
what justified reasoning does jeffries have for meeting a rep from their rival party? it’s looks terrible to dems who already have concerns about jeffries positions on the middle east and medicare for all. this only adds to the perception that he isn’t a proper representative of where the democratic party stands at large.
i feel like the key news stories in american politics may seem unrelated but all ultimately tie together: sanctions, bessent and bonds, natalie harp, canadian tariffs and ground beef.
what ties all of these together is trump and the sycophancy that surrounds him. he is surrounded by yes people that insulate him from reality. his unwillingness to be ever be wrong and the belief that ‘strongman’ing every country is the way to ‘win’.
the us economy is not in good condition. bond yields, oil and the deficit all spiking. bessent unable to upset his boss means manipulating the markets to make things look better whilst doing nothing to change the funadmentals. today’s axios story of 16 million barrels making it through the strait last night (where is the proof? why wouldn’t iran strike those tankers if there was such a large convoy? if there were failed attempts at striking why hasn’t this been reported? why do the strategic reserves continue to deplete?). it’s all just an attempt to manipulate markets. reality will eventually bite…diesel prices are continuing to rise for example; something to the us treasury cannot manipulate.
importing ground beef at a subsidised price is proof tariffs DO make things more expensive. it’s also a kick in the face to deep red ranchers (further proof trump cares about nobody even his most enthusiastic supporters).
the disconnect between reality that harp and his cabinet are helping enforce is eventually going to collide with reality. the markets seem to be waking up to the fact that false realities are being sold. it’s going to take the stock market to crash (which it will in due course) for trump to wake up and notice.
and iran will see all of this and they will strike at the most opportune moment for them. they don’t really have to do anything for the moment. the fundamentals for the american economy are terrible and getting worse. the perfect moment for them to replenish munitions and rebuild militarily because trump will certainly escalate militarily before ever admitting defeat.
it’s going to be a rough winter and a rough two years. it’s made think recently how is it in a democracy that one person and their irrational and delusional personality can hold the power to essentially ultimately wreck the global economy. that is not good for anyone, anywhere.
