And at the same time we had the folks from @JSBelgrade organize a (very AI) meetup in our Belgrade venue too, ia. ft. a speaker from @jetbrains
A thank you to the organizers and all came by our Belgrade venue as well!
After almost 11 years, it's time for a new organization team to take over the @JSBelgrade meetup.
The journey started in December 2014, when @ispijac_kafe and I decided to organize our first JavaScript meetup and start the first (as far as I know) JavaScript meetup group in Belgrade. Even in the first meetup, we met some awesome people who quickly became friends, including @simalexan (who also became our coorganizer), @dejan_dimic, and several others.
Everything went smoothly until covid. We had many monthly meetups (with amazing speakers, the list would be too long), countless Coffeejs meetups, and some great free workshops. We met many awesome people. And, I personally learned a lot! However, after covid, many things changed, and with our limited free time, the meetup was no longer a priority. We organized a few events, just to keep it alive.
And then, last year, @simalexan and I met Ilija. He just started the Belgradejs meetup group, and we recognized the enthusiasm and passion we had when we started the JS Belgrade meetup. In the next year and a half, Ilija and his coorganizers, Sanel and Nikola, organized many other great events. We even organized one together in April. Finally, a few months ago, @simalexan and I sat down with Ilija, Sanel, and Nikola and agreed to merge our meetup groups. They'll continue as the main JS Belgrade organizers, and we'll help with everything we can.
I hope this marks the start of the next 10 years of JS Belgrade meetup, with many, many more events, workshops, and amazing people, of course.
Btw, join us on Thursday to meet the new organizing team: https://t.co/1ezevlxs3B
Also, if you want to speak at one of our future meetups, let us know!
