@Nutzypoo_ttv@TrentMLBTheShow@LevarBurton_ The OVR formulas changed b/w 25 & 26 so comparing OVRs across these two games is giving a cloudy view. They normalized vsR & vsL so they are now roughly even. They took some points from the non-O stats & moved them into O to do this. 25 Harper would be ~98 using this year's OVR.
@TheScann Primary position directly impacts the OVR formula applied. For example FLD for a 1B is about 7% of OVR but more than 10% for CF for LS cards. Same thing with SPD, worth about 4% at 1B but 8%+ for most OF + MI positions. Core offense it varies some but more tightly grouped this yr
To recap:
Chaim Bloom will take over as #STLCards president of baseball operations in 2026. He has signed a five-year contract.
John Mozeliak will step down after the 2025 season.
Payroll will go down next season as club redirects to improving player development.

Hope this isnt serious but if it it causes Gray to miss time I cannot wait to hear how the team is "comfortable with their depth" as Snell and Monty sit there potentially willing to take a short term deal.
Sonny Gray declined to speak with media following his departure, telling a #stlcards official he'd prefer to know more about the tightness before commenting.

Unless Arenado (156) gets back on track Simmons (201) is going to be the career leader in DRS (started in 03) for quite a while, maybe forever. Ke'Bryan Hayes (65) really the only current MLB guy with the youth + skills to even have a shot.
With 5 Cy Young Awards and the second-most strikeouts of any pitcher, Randy Johnson towers at #⃣1⃣ on our list of the best starting pitchers since 1947! #Prime9
They're better than who was there before they signed but I find it tough to believe that Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson in 2023 are names that make a prospective signee think "this is the place to be" and its telling if your org thinks that way.
Thought this honesty from Mozeliak was telling. Pursuing Gray wasn’t just about making sure the Cardinals signed their guy. It was also about confirming St. Louis was still considered a prime destination to some, even after a 91-loss season. #STLCards
Shohei Ohtani's $700 million contract calls for him to be paid only $2 million a year for the next 10 seasons, with $680 million deferred until the end of the deal, sources confirm to ESPN.
The CBT hit on the contract is going to be around $46 million, a huge discount for L.A.

Having said that stopping at Gray would be a sign that the Cards aren't serious about actually competing. If they are serious, they have to land a ace level guy whether trade or FA.
Sonny Gray has basically been a 3 win guy on average his entire career. 25 per is not out of bounds considering the $/Win number in FA has been right around 8-9 for a while.
Cardinals need to leave some folks in Miami. Its time. You can't keep doing this every night and pray it changes. The roster has holes but is this staff getting the most out of any player?
