A convicted sex offender was exempted from Canada’s national sex offender registry because the judge was concerned about the offender facing deportation.

Let that sink in.

The registry exists to protect Canadians, not shield convicted offenders from immigration consequences. Public safety must always come before the interests of criminals.

Enough leniency. Canada needs strong laws that put public safety first, ensure convicted sex offenders face the full consequences of their crimes, and remove serious foreign criminals from this country after they’ve served their sentences.

Mark Carney once declared that Canadians donating to the Freedom Convoy were “funding sedition.” He demanded that authorities choke off the money, identify the funders and punish them.

Then the Liberal government froze people’s bank accounts without the normal requirement for a court order.

It would be wonderfully ironic if Trump froze Carney’s American assets and Carney suddenly discovered property rights, civil liberties and due process.

I would oppose that kind of arbitrary government power on principle, even against Carney. But watching him complain about it would be karma with a very sharp sense of humour.
