@RepMarkMcBride as Chair of the Appropriations & Budget Education subcommittee, maybe you can weigh in on whether providing proof of these allegations is a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Ryan Walters has spent his time in office telling Oklahomans that porn is rampant in public schools.
Except… he’s never provided any proof.
When KFOR’s @kayleeolivastv asked for evidence, a Walters spokesperson told her providing it would “be a waste of taxpayer dollars.”
@rooey40@MrsStice910@James409Jason Setting aside the immutable fact that a surgeon achieves that career on the shoulders of dozens of professional educators… Would you want a substitute covering for the head coach in a basketball game? That’s the most important thing anyway, right?
@mhuntinca@BisforBerkshire And tomorrow, we’ll discuss how Karl-Marx…
…Stadt was renamed Chemnitz in 1990 after 76% of voters decided to return it to its former name.
Why do hotels not have check-in kiosks?
Waiting in line at a hotel just to get to your room makes no sense, seems like a kiosk could easily do it.
Airlines switched almost entirely to kiosks for check-in ~15 years ago, why haven't hotels?
@James409Jason@LawtonSup Best bet is to convince them that supporting this will hurt their re-election chances. There’s not a lot of genuine concern for the success of public schools to work with as a base for changing their minds.
@ClaudiaSwisher @James409Jason I probably sound hopelessly pessimistic, but to your original point, the same plot plays out over and over again. Exhausted educators will eventually push back publicly, faux outrage by middle class white parents will follow, and the legislature will hand out pacifiers.
@ClaudiaSwisher @James409Jason Just a rinse and repeat of the same political agenda to erode education to the point that only a privileged few may benefit. This won’t change until voters confront the ugliness of their own prejudices and change, and there’s almost zero chance of that.
@khrista_lou The evidence suggests that the eligible voters here value ridiculous right wing narratives over their own rational self-interest, and have for many years, when it comes to representational the State Capitol.
@khrista_lou But see, that would mean the legislature would actually have to do something meaningful and invest in public education. It would mean that you’re viewed as a professional who brings value to the students of this state.
