@Wulfissariat@MaxBlumenthal The violence of the Portugeuse in the 15th century, and the Spanish colonialist in the 19th century was genocidal. Would you also be in support of a fully Spanish Riff had the Moroccans not defeated the Spanish in the 1920s?
@Wulfissariat@MaxBlumenthal So your moral test of the legitimacy of settler colonialism rests solely on dates? So if the European Zionist settlers conquered Palestine 2 centuries earlier, they would be 100% legitimate in your eyes?
@Wulfissariat@MaxBlumenthal Marinid campaigns in Iberia do not permanently legitimize Spain’s possession of Ceuta. Anti-colonialism is not inherited revenge, where one medieval invasion cancels another. Conquest does not become emancipatory simply because it happened centuries ago.
@Wulfissariat@MaxBlumenthal “Morocco didn’t exist” is also selective. Neither modern Spain nor Portugal existed in their current form. Ceuta was ruled by the Marinid Sultanate, centred in present-day Morocco. Medieval borders cannot be denied to Morocco but granted retroactively to Spain.
@MaxBlumenthal The fact that people are pretending this is a migrant invasion of "Europe" is really ignorant. Are migrants going to take over planes at Ceuta Airport and fly to Rome? It's retarded.
@Daikazo2@EthNatUK2@OwenBenjamin Well, as a neutral observer I would wonder if tree rings only really show up clearly on stumps after they have been cleanly choped down or sawed off. Not sure this, debate proves anything one way or the other.
