@minimal_audio Awesome, can't wait!
There's something to be said for the balance between unique/cool vs usable. I think Audiotent is probably best in class in getting the balance right atm.
@bennjordan @intothevoid81 They didn't sell a Model D when the Boog D launched though. I think they wanted to keep the price high through scarcity to be able to sell it at nearly twice the price of a PolyBrute.
The patent is expired and it's good that clones combat this strategy.
@bennjordan @intothevoid81 Maybe, but judging from the amount of clones and VSTs, there's a huge market for that sound and there hasn't really been an option with a good DAW integration and presets. Why not capitalize on that?
@intothevoid81 @bennjordan Good points, I guess it depends on what you're after. I have the S37, which I love, but other than the One's which are out of my price range, they haven't made anything that interests me.
That they didn't make a version of D with modern features, is a missed opportunity.
@intothevoid81 @bennjordan Also, Moog's practice of releasing limited edition Model D reissues at insane prices once a decade speaks of catering to collectors and protecting the vintage prices. For the last years, Moog has been anything but innovative and now they're paying the price.
@intothevoid81 @bennjordan Behringer's business practices are indeed dubious, but getting worked up about them cloning the 50-year-old 2600, when the original manufacturer hasn't existed for 40 years, just seems a lot like gatekeeping.
What is the name for the size a company gets when the company laptop becomes fully managed and you can’t use the apps that have made you productive no mo? 🤔
