10M Trajectories ≠ Endgame
10 million robot trajectories sounds impressive.
And it is.
But I don't think 10 million should be the end goal for Physical AI data.
Because there is a fundamental difference between:
having more data
and
having more useful data.
Imagine two datasets.
Dataset A has 10 million trajectories.
Dataset B has 1 million trajectories specifically collected around the model's weakest capabilities.
Which one creates more learning value?
The answer isn't determined by the number.
It depends on what those trajectories teach the model.
This is where the scaling narrative around Physical AI becomes more nuanced.
At the beginning, increasing data volume is critical.
You need diversity.
You need different environments.
You need different objects, behaviours, failures and edge cases.
But once the infrastructure can generate data at scale, another bottleneck emerges: data selection.
What should be collected?
Where is the model still weak?
Which failures are worth correcting?
Which trajectories have become redundant?
And perhaps most importantly:
What should the next 10,000 trajectories look like?
This is why I find the direction of @axisrobotics $AXIS interesting.
The long-term opportunity isn't simply to build a massive repository of robot trajectories.
It's to create a feedback system where:
Model performance → reveals weaknesses → guides data generation → improves the model → reveals new weaknesses.
That creates a fundamentally different kind of scalability.
Not just:
More data → Bigger dataset
but:
Better feedback → Better data → Better model → Better feedback
So yes, 10M trajectories is a milestone.
But it shouldn't be mistaken for the destination.
The real endgame isn't collecting every possible trajectory.
It's building a system that continuously knows which trajectories are worth collecting next.
In Physical AI, scale gets you to the frontier.
Intelligent data selection determines how far you can move it.
