Del Shannon - Runaway (1961)
65 Anniversary
Love checking out the Mods dancing in this clip. It's the bewitching & haunting (in a good way) keyboards (courtesy of Max Crook) during the bridge that really makes it for me. Great song too of course. Went to #1 in the US for 4 wks.
I was a prison officer, Nick. You can't preach "tough on crime." Your lot cut nearly 7,000 prison officers since 2010 and handed our jails to G4S and Serco. You broke the system, then act shocked it doesn't work.
You know what actually works? Lads out on licence getting their track tickets, learning a trade, coming home as taxpayers instead of reoffenders. That's using human capital, not warehousing it. A lad sat in a cell doing nothing helps nobody.
And funny how quiet you all go on the tax dodgers and the oligarchs bankrolling Putin's war. Boris took a Russian ex-KGB man's hospitality at his Italian villa, dodged his own officials, then made the son a Lord. Where's your "lock them up" energy for that?
456. The number of reasons why the pyramid’s importance is highlighted by today’s Champions League final. 456 EFL/non-League games Arsenal players have played. David Raya turned out 16 times in the Conference for Southport, 45 times in League One for Blackburn Rovers and 147 times in the Championship (53, Blackburn; 94, Brentford).
Eberechi Eze played 20 League Two games for Wycombe Wanderers and 104 times in the Championship for QPR. Viktor Gyokeres played 113 times in the Championship with Coventry City and 11 with Swansea City.
You can add another 63 to that 456 with Christian Norgaard (who played in the Championship with Brentford) on the bench. And another 103: watching on will be the unfortunately injured Ben White, who played 46 times in the Championship with Leeds United, 15 times in League One with Peterborough United and 42 League Two games with Newport County.
622 reasons why the Premier League is supported by the pyramid and why the elite league needs to increase financial support with the long-delayed New Deal. #UCL #EFL #UCLfinal #PSGARS
Some notes on my work ethic:
-I last voted in Parliament on 18 March, so I haven’t done my job for ten weeks.
-I’ve never held any face-to-face constituency surgeries, despite apparently having £5 million to spend on security.
-I refuse to do interviews or face press scrutiny of any sort.
-when I was in the European Parliament I had the 4th worst attendance record out of 748 MEPs.
-although I did manage to turn up to vote AGAINST plans to tackle Russian misinformation.
-I was on the Fisheries Committee but I only turned up to ONE out of 42 meetings.
-but I will of course be taking my £73,000 EU pension.
Vote Reform, get lazy, grifting, self-serving sacks of shit.

"I once received £5m, a further £1m, an £800k house, helicopter trips and a trip to the Maldives, and wasn't expected to do anything in return for it."
To anyone considering a leadership challenge I say - put the country first, not your own interests or those you might claim are the interests of the party.
Keir Starmer has a massive democratic mandate from the public, nobody has the right to seek to depose him, nobody.
Not Wes, not Ed, not Andy, not Angie.
Yes Keir is unpopular in the polls, that’s current public sentiment - it’s not a mandate for getting rid of him. Opinion polls are snapshots of opinions. Local election results are always an opportunity to register a protest. Labour has a job to do, we’re not even two years in yet, things are tough - a leadership challenge would be self indulgent and illogical - in my view.
I’m hearing that Andy Burnham has purchased a meal deal at WH Smith in Euston station. Beth, Sam and Sophy are en route to ask the checkout assistant what flavour crisps he chose.
Meanwhile Nigel Farage trousered a £5m bung and didn’t declare it.
Back to the crisps story.
Hey @BBCNews , got a story for you!
About 11 reform new councillors have stepped down or been expelled already!
It will cost a lot to elect new ones. How about running that as a story, just for a smidgen of impartiality?
Reform Latest
2 councillors died before election
Several now suspended for various bits of bigotry
At least 1 doesn’t exist
Others want to stand down cos they didn’t know it’s unpaid
1 thought he would be in Parliament
They don’t need a Whip, they need a Missing Persons Officer
🚨 NEW: Panorama investigated Christopher Harborne’s £10m donation to the Brexit Party back in 2020 - now, years later, fresh questions are being raised under strikingly similar circumstances.
The old clip of Nigel Farage hanging up on a BBC interviewer when pressed about Harborne is resurfacing again.
