I'm proud to announce that my new photographic project, A Lifetime's Work, commissioned for Brent 2020 by the London Borough of Brent is now live on Instagram.
During this difficult time of Covid-19 our local businesses have become even more important as a lifeline to society.
Horatio's Garden was established after the tragic death of schoolboy Horatio Chapple, who had envisioned these gardens and who sounds like an extrodinary young man.
Meeting and teaching patients @HoratiosGarden has been incredibly humbling, hearing their stories and watching them exuberantly engage with their new photographic skills.
As some may know, I am one of the photographers to the @2020visionproj2 where with 100 other photographers across the UK we volunteered our time to produce portraiture of NHS healthcare professionals to be actioned after the Covid-19 pandemic through an exhibition & book.
October 10th marks #worldmentalhealthday2020 and it's almost 3 years to the day since beginning my photographic project Best Days Of Your Life which looks at adolescent self-harm.
Through photo therapy techniques that I used for the project, this has allowed the young people who took part to open up, reveal & disclose with confidence their feelings & emotions and to show the world their empowerment to redefine themselves and move forward with their lives.
It was also the first time in over 35 years to meet @sophie_snap who I went to school with and along with @EditsweetLtd put together the 2020 Vision Project. Great to catch up after all these years.
Among the many things that have inspired Joanna during Covid-19 is “Colleagues putting the patients first- working extended days to make sure patients got their treatment even when their own families were battling Covid-19”.

For Joanna, her “me time” is centred around her children and family including Barney the dog. During lockdown apart from working superhard, Joanna has undertaken renovation work to their garden to ensure its user friendly for her cricket mad boys.
