Eight-year-old Sandra Cantú disappeared after leaving home to play with friends, prompting a large community search in Tracy, California.
Ten days later, Sandra's remains were found inside a suitcase submerged in an irrigation pond near Bacchetti Road, a few miles from her home.

Investigators determined she had been drugged with alprazolam (Xanax), sexually assaulted, and killed by strangulation.

As the investigation unfolded, 28-year-old Melissa Huckaby, a Sunday school teacher who lived in the same mobile home park as Sandra, became the primary suspect.

She had reported a suitcase stolen on the day Sandra disappeared and later gave police a handwritten note describing a child in a suitcase thrown into water.

Investigators also recovered forensic evidence linking Sandra to items found at Huckaby's church.

Witnesses reported seeing Huckaby's SUV near the irrigation pond around the time Sandra disappeared, and she was also seen in the area where Sandra's body was later recovered.

As for a possible motive, investigators suggested there was no single confirmed reason, though they believed Huckaby's actions were tied to personal psychological issues and disturbing behavior patterns rather than a clear external cause.

With evidence mounting, Huckaby was arrested on April 11, 2009. She later pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering Sandra Cantú and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The case remains one of California's most disturbing crimes, largely because the perpetrator was a trusted community member and Sunday school teacher. I hope Melissa suffers in Prison.

I made one of the biggest mistakes while house hunting, and I hope someone learns from it.

An agent showed me an apartment and explained that the current occupant had overstayed her rent but would be moving out at the end of the month. Since I liked the compound and wasn’t in a hurry, I paid the rent, caution fee, and the agent’s commission.

A few weeks later, I went to ask when I could move in. That’s when the occupant laughed and told me she wasn’t going anywhere. It turned out she was the landlord’s side chick, and their personal issues were the real reason he wanted her out.

The landlord kept assuring me I’d get the apartment, but instead, the woman secretly brought in her friend, collected rent from her, and used it to renew the tenancy. Shockingly, the landlord accepted the money and then asked me to wait for another apartment to become vacant.

I refused. I had already paid and had my receipt, so I locked the apartment with my own padlock, insisting that either I get the house I paid for or receive a full refund. Now everyone is begging me to remove my padlock, but I still haven’t gotten my house or my money.

Was I wrong to lock the apartment, or should I stand my ground until they do the right thing?

Eighteen-year-old Nolan Wells disappeared after a boating trip to Horn Island, Mississippi, where he had been with a group of white friends. Following an extensive multi-agency search, his body was recovered days later.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

In 2018, 40-year-old Tamla Horsford attended an overnight birthday gathering in Georgia where she was the only Black woman among a group of white friends. She was later found dead in the backyard.

Authorities ruled her death an accident, concluding she fell from a deck, but her family and many members of the public have continued to question the investigation.
