I have learnt with sadness about the tragic accident that occurred this morning along the Kampala–Gulu highway, claiming many lives. I extend my condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a quick recovery. I have directed the State House Comptroller to give Shs 5m to each bereaved family and Shs 1m to the injured. I urge all road users to exercise utmost caution to prevent such tragedies. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.

I join Mzee and all Ugandans in mourning the lives lost in the tragic road accident along the Kampala–Gulu Highway. My heart is deeply saddened by this painful incident, and I send my sincere condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones.

At such a time, we can only turn to God for comfort and strength. May He heal those who are injured and grant peace to the bereaved families.

I also appeal to all road users to be extra careful and mindful while travelling. Let us value life and protect one another by observing the safety measures put in place.

May the Almighty God watch over our nation and keep us safe.

🕯️We join the nation in mourning the tragic loss of lives along the Kampala–Gulu Highway at Kitaleeba Village.
Our heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating crash.

A joint team from the Ministry of Works and Transport is already headed to the site for detailed investigations into the crash together with the Uganda Police Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety.

The Ministry will issue a comprehensive statement on the incident at a later stage.

We continue to urge all motorists to drive cautiously and to avoid dangerous overtaking on highways.
