GOSH JOSH REVIEWS
Normally the stuff I play gets reviewed with Paul on @dadsgamereview but Genesis Noir from @feralcatden and @SerenityForge has to be the most inexplicable game I’ve ever played and I JUST finished Kentucky Route Zero soooooo.
Not gonna do it on the podcast cause I’m at a loss as what to say. And I dunno if Paul would play it. 😂
Plus I can’t explain the story to you cause I kept trying to assign meaning to everything and I just couldn’t so I gave up. I wouldn’t know what to talk about for 30 minutes even though this is one of my favorite game experiences EVER.
It’s a point and click, and one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen whether it’s the minimalist black white and yellow, or the amazing moments of shockingly vibrant color and wonder. You probably won’t know what’s going on…but you’ll love every minute of it whatever’s happening.
Nothing is explained to you with how to progress through the game. You just explore by clicking on things and magical things happen.
The puzzles in Genesis noir are experimental as you have to discover what to do, or why to do it with only your surroundings as clues.
Even though it’s a linear progression the game somehow still feels unconfined as your mind runs wild with trying to connect clues together, figuring
out the puzzles, interpreting the story themes, or learning about the creation of the universe with the Big Bang and time and space itself.
…and there’s Jazz. So much Jazz. Even though Jazz Isn’t my thing. It’s so poignant to the story and the atmosphere in the game, and even feels like it’s speaking to you instead of words in many moments.
This was art. Amazing Art and I would LOVE to ask creators Evan Anthony and Evan Stark to help make some sense or conections outta it cause a day later it’s still in my head as beautiful chaos.
I had played a couple @SerenityForge games and knew I dug the company so I bought the Genesis Noir collectors edition on a whim and a sale knowing absolutely zero. And it’s now one of my absolute favorite pieces after playing.
With my publisher obsession Annapurna studios @A_i closing and playing 30 of their games the last 2 years, I think I got a new company game library to fixate on with Serenity Forge.
Gamepass has it and there’s a physical for switch I have plus a CE. Open your mind, lay back, and experience whatever Genesis Noir is 😂
Much Love

So A Tale Of Paper Refolded was what I played earlier for stream and it’s such a great puzzle platformer that gave me little nightmares vibes right away.
Turned out the developer @OpenHouseGames is from Barcelona, and we were already doing a podcast on @Piccolo_Studio games from there, so we made it about Barcelona indie studios and included @nomadastudiobcn from there as well makers of one of my all time favs Gris recently reviewed, and my most excited upcoming release Neva!
Was a great podcast with @dadsgamereview . Coming tomorrow!
