Say it louder for the people in the back: if you’re inconvenienced by a strike, blame the boss not the workers ✊ increds artwork by @wallmansam#OurMembersBeUnlimited
Trade unions and strike action are the reason we have sick pay, minimum wage agreements, workplace safety, and parental leave.
The rightwing press want to ban strikes because they work!
We heartily recommend that costume workers in theatre to join @bectu

For a bit of perspective, the majority of #Eurovision entries tonight have been hit songs in their home nations. Quite a few have amassed tens of millions of streams. The UK entry got to #42 in the download chart. If your own country can't support a song, why expect Europe to?
1) Without naming names, a thread, about television. TV is probably one of the worst industries for this where the hours are just a given. I think we have 'officially' gotten it down to a 12hr day including one lunch, but that's not enforced, and it's a given you will do more.
Fun fact about me: I use a ‘teenagers’ wheelchair. It’s tiny. 23inches wide.
If I’m struggling to get through these “gaps”, they are completely impassable for most wheelchair users and visually impaired people with dogs.
Pavements must be kept clear enough for pedestrians.
'...job vacancies in arts and entertainment, in the period January to March 2021, were down 79%... It is by far the worst hit part of the economy, well ahead of even hospitality at 70%, and soaring above the average across all industries of 23%.' https://t.co/grulgPnUN6
Oh how we laughed when the BBC 'suprised' wannabe leading ladies by having #johnbarrowman kiss them without consent or warning as part of some test to see if they were good actresses. Irish Maria having none of it at 3.26...

Started signing off my emails with just ‘Alex’ as a lil’ experiment and I’ve had three times the amount of responses from high profile production companies, directors, theatres and producers... 🤦🏻️
Periodic reminder: People who are assholes to work with may also be capable of creating great shows.
However, people who are great to work with are also capable of creating great shows, with the added benefit of not being assholes.
Another thing that always irritate me...
"The show must go on!"
It mustn't, it doesn't, for a lot of folk it hasn't and won't. This kind of flippant slogan making just makes it seem like people haven't tried hard enough and I assure you, they have!

A thread about touring theatre.
👇🏻
I know that nobody is touring anything for a little while. And I know that I’ve banged on about this before. But I do think that, when tours start up again, a discussion needs to be had about the archaic digs situation in this country.
‘I’ll put my birthday party on a Sunday this year so all my theatre friends can come, don’t want to make it so that they’re left out’
Cool. Thanks. Great.
