❤️SHE MATTERS: JULIA BRUNSDON & HER UNBORN CHILD!❤️
Julia Brunsdon deserved respect and dignity in the wake of her femicide - but that was taken away by technology and by journalists.
There's a plethora of AI and/or bot-based so-called 'news sites' across Facebook - and they are harvesting the femicide epidemic to produce graphic victim-blaming content.
It's distressing to see these platforms victim blame and demean femicide victims.
It is also appalling to watch mainstream media continue to do the same. The Daily Mail has articles demeaning Julia, who was expecting her second baby.
Julia was murdered by her partner at her home in Charleville, Queensland on August 5. He ended his own life. Julia's little daughter was at the home when he killed her.
Julia is the 43rd of 44 Australian women killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed.
“Julia was a lovely woman, she was quiet, always up for a laugh and a bit of banter, she was a very soft gentle woman,” a colleague told media.
“She was a bit of a homebody, she was always doing something to her home if it was in the yard or always buying too many plants, she was just a down-to-earth woman."
JULIA BRUNSDON & HER UNBORN CHILD MATTERS!❤️

I document all Australian women & children lost to murder, manslaughter, neglect and other unlawful acts regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship to the victim. This means not all women and children killed are lost to domestic violence. They are also killed by people known to them (ie friends) or by strangers. My work includes Australians killed overseas. Every death is documented at https://t.co/DW9BTHwqhk (link in bio).
when a greyhound is listed as retired as a pet, on the NSW etrac database for example, that doesn't mean they are actually retired as a "pet" in a forever home. It can mean they are in limbo until the owner gets rid of them. Some quickly pop up advertised on gumtree or elsewhere, as I noticed the other day with one greyhound whose status had changed to retired just days before.
Everything is a game of smoke and mirrors with this horrible industry

Greyhounds flown from Christchurch to Australia after racing ban
“These dogs, if they survive to the end of their racing career, will still need to be rehomed, and we know that over in Queensland, they’re also struggling with rehoming greyhounds."
'Vaughan said while the dogs arrived at the airport Wednesday, the flight didn’t take off until the following day, which raised concerns about their welfare. “What we’re not clear about is what happened in the 24-hours between the first flight that tried to leave and the flight that did finally take them to their destination 24 hours later.”'

'Charter flights are very expensive; in the hundreds of thousands, and we’ve heard that there are two flights. This is money that would have otherwise been transferred to the Greyhound Transition Agency (GTA) for rehoming of dogs as pets,” Vaughan told the Herald'
'The Herald first revealed secret plans for a charter flight for up to 70 dogs in May, although at that stage GRNZ CEO Edward Rennell said nothing was confirmed. At the time, in a private Facebook message, trainers were urged to consider putting “breeding bitches and stud dogs” on the plane so they could “continue their breeding careers and realise their potential”.'

‘What our birds actually needed was decades of habitat protection & restoration, & control of invasive feral species, which we have consistently failed to deliver.’
Stop the land clearing to help birds survive.
Healthy habitats are their best chance.

Portugal Changes the Law: Animals Will No Longer Be Left Behind in a Fire or a Flood
For years, animals simply did not exist in most emergency protocols. When the fire or the water arrived, their rescue depended on the goodwill of neighbors and crews acting without training or adequate resources.
That has just changed in Portugal.
Law No. 38/2026, published on August 3, 2026, amends Portugal's Civil Protection Framework Law to include animals as victims who must be evacuated and cared for during an emergency. The measure requires rescue operations to be coordinated with specialized veterinary teams and designates the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Affairs (DGAV) as the central body in the system.
The law also creates the role of animal health and welfare representative within civil protection plans. This person, appointed by the DGAV, will act as the link between emergency teams and veterinary services. Representatives from municipal health authorities and from organizations specialized in animal search and rescue are also incorporated into the plans.
The law takes effect on August 8, 2026.
After the fires that swept through thousands of hectares in southern Europe this past July, the absence of a unified animal rescue plan became evident once again. Portugal is responding with a concrete decision: plan the rescue before the disaster begins, not during it.

A man murdered a 23-year-old woman in Charleville, Queensland, yesterday. He ended his own life. A child was at the property when he killed the woman.
She is the 43rd Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed.
Police are treating their deaths as murder-suicide. Officers put an emergency declaration in place after police were called to the home to investigate reports of an assault.
The area was locked down for about seven hours.

EMMA SPEAKS OUT ON VIOLENT THREATS 📻📢
No one should face threats or intimidation for going to work.
Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst joined Hamish Macdonald on ABC Radio Sydney to speak about the unacceptable abuse directed at women in politics and the failure to properly address it.
Emma shared her own experience of receiving hundreds of violent threats and the urgent need for stronger action to stop this behaviour.
Political disagreement is part of democracy. Threats of violence are not.
Abuse has no place in our Parliament.
Thank you, Emma, for continuing to speak out for women, children and animals despite the abuse. ❤️

Tasmania's new racing minister is said to be working "diligently" to get a ban on greyhound racing through parliament, as some racing participants express interest in the compensation scheme to leave the industry by the end of the year
"in response to questions asked during budget estimates hearings, there were 765 dogs in the state's greyhound racing industry"
"The figures also showed there were 125 registered trainers in Tasmania, but a quarter of those do not have a dog registered to them, and 40 per cent of the greyhounds were registered to just 10 trainers"

@knarfnamduh What really is a stain on Australia is the murderous terrorism against women that continues daily with hundreds dying each year. It’s complex but so is the problem of antisemitism. we need to have a balanced approach not the current suppression of horror about Israel’s slaughter
