Information overload and FOMO for academics: What are your personal rules to manage both of those phenomena? How do you balance the need to focus on your topics AND read widely? What are the boundaries of your 'widely'? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
@AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter a question:
how often do you read outside of your immediate field or project?
Do you have a system to make sure you keep up with the literature?
Do you to go back to the PDFs that you saved a year ago under 'to read'? When?
@kfortmueller @PdcScms Grading, I think, is an assessment of a point in time of a final product and is very top-down. Peer feedback is more equal, acknowledges that it's a work in progress, and looks for future changes and improvement.
@kfortmueller @PdcScms I do a peer feedback exercise in class. Main things are to be nice (like was said), but also point out what is done well and what can be improved, and ideas on how to improve (if they have any).
Thank you @baftss and @SussexUni for a wonderful conference! Met old friends and made new ones and heard thought provoking papers! The last panel was on education, filmmaking, and optimism. On this positive note, ๐!
Is anyone familiar with good writing groups (online probably preferable) that focus on ERC book writing? Looking for a supportive group in the process of a book-writing project. ๐๐
