Did you know that the first women to land on the Normandy beachhead in June 1944 were nurses of Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Nursing Service?
Their task was to establish a field hospital for 600 wounded soldiers.
They succeeded.
Please remember these heroines who saved lives:
Nobody talks about the student who came ready to learn, sat through the disruption, said nothing, and fell further behind while every adult in the building focused on the one who made the most noise. She is still waiting for someone to notice she was there, too.
The Blues Brothers (1980) set a Guinness World Record by destroying 103 cars. For this scene, filmmakers lifted a Ford Pinto 1,200 feet into the air from a helicopter and dropped it. The film’s crashes were 100% practical, with no CGI, just 4,000 pounds of American steel flying.
@kbolan@VaughnPalmer@VancouverSun I believe whatever happened had been simmering for a while Did Chappell know what was on the agenda for the meeting and chose to be absent? What concerns were there that resulted in the dismissal of the chief? I’d be surprised if The Chief was unaware of the boards concerns
On this day in 1935, 1,000 unemployed men, upset over the conditions in relief camps, began the On-To-Ottawa Trek in Vancouver.
Despite huge public support for the men, the Trek was brought to a violent end by the RCMP on July 1 in the Regina Riot.

@stuartd37 She doesn’t have the power to do that Get your facts straight before you scapegoat someone It was the majority of the board that made the decision Probably was brewing for a bit on the board 🙄🤦🏽♀️
@debwalt1956@walterJ30200048@JasJohalBC The same Wally that is on the Extortion group. Not much is working out here… I get the lack of confidence in the Chief. You need someone out in front as the face of Public Safety… it ain’t Nina! Remember those fire chiefs in Kelowna? Daily- sometimes twice a day briefings…
@Kal_Dosanjh Of course Lipinski isn't the sole owner of the disastrous transition - we have to remember it was Farnworth, Begg, Oppal and McCallum that were colluding behind closed doors. It's also a good time to remind folks McCallum is running for Mayor again - DON'T LET HIM IN.
@JanetBrown980 Mayor Locke is 1 vote on the police board That was appointed by the @bcndp this is an irresponsible comment Remember @LindaAnnisBC supported keeping the RCMP
At the Juno beachhead, a Canadian soldier has died while receiving the sacrament of absolution. Chaplain Robert Seaborn holds the soldier's hand and continues to forgive him for his sins, offering mercy and hope to the departed soul; welcoming the soldier to eternal life.
Moments like this remind me why I do what I do. 🥹💕
Yesterday, after my school talk, a teacher asked if I would speak with a student who had been impacted by what I shared. Of course, I said yes.
The student immediately became emotional and said:
"I want to thank you for saying that people struggling on the street think about their loved ones all the time. I needed to hear that because my dad is down there, and I often wonder if he cares."
I told her that he absolutely cares. In fact, many people struggling with addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges think about their loved ones constantly. They often carry tremendous shame because they can't be the parent, child, sibling, or partner they want to be.
She told me she didn't think her dad's situation affected her. I gently explained that, of course, it does. She's grieving the loss of someone she loves while they're still alive.
I encouraged her to reach out to her school counsellors and start talking about what she's carrying.
Before she left, she said:
"Thank you for giving me hope. Maybe my dad can do what you did."
I let her know he absolutely can, and hopefully one day he does.
Recovery doesn't just change one life. It restores families, heals relationships, and gives people hope when they need it most. ❤️
Chapman's Ice Cream is amazing. They used to source fruits & nuts from US suppliers. Then Trump slapped on 25% tariff. So what did Chapman's do? They called Italy. They called Spain. They signed contracts with European suppliers. This is a family-run business of good Canadians!
It has been one week since Canada has been trending on Twitter.
My timeline is filled with Canadians showing their pride for our wonderful country.
I would love to see even more! Let's keep this trending 🇨🇦❤️
In 1306, Robert the Bruce murdered a rival at a church altar, was crowned King of Scotland, and promptly lost everything.
The English crushed his army, captured his wife and daughters, and hung three of his brothers. Bruce fled into hiding, a fugitive king with no army, no allies, and no throne.
For months, he survived in caves and on remote islands, hunted by the most powerful military in Europe. But he refused to disappear. He came back with guerrilla raids, picking off English garrisons one by one. Eight years later, at Bannockburn, his 6,500 men faced 18,000 English soldiers, and destroyed them. Scotland won its independence.
Not because Bruce was unbeatable, but because he was impossible to finish.
