I spent the last day of early voting meeting voters at Claude Moore Recreation Center in Sterling and later at South Riding Recreation Center.

It’s been great connecting with so many neighbors who came out to vote early thank you for making your voices heard! 🙏

Yesterday I filed a brief with Muslim, Hindu, & Quaker institutions in the Supreme Court in support of an Orthodox Jew whose city banned him hosting a small group prayer in his home because he didn't have a zoning permit. (His lawyers cited our cert brief in their opening brief.)

Most Hispanics in @MaElviraSalazar's district are Cuban. Over the last year and a half, Cubans have been deported in record numbers.

Exact figures are hard to come by, but the great majority of these people entered LEGALLY. They did not sneak in, evading our authorities. They used a parole program OUR OWN GOVERNMENT told them to use. They were also told that a year after arriving they could apply for a green card under the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966. This was passed by Congress, signed by an American president, and it's still binding federal law.

They also gave up what little they had to come here. A Cuban doctor who leaves forfeits his credentials, because the regime will not release them. These people work hard, assimilate fast, succeed in our country, and overwhelmingly vote Republican. Let me put this in perspective: if Cuban Americans were their own state, it would be more red than Wyoming. (FWIW, I don't think how someone may vote in the future should decide admission, but some people do, so there's that.)

Now many are being ordered back to a communist dictatorship amid the worst humanitarian crisis it's had in the last 60 years. Not only that. There's the indignity of being branded as "criminal illegals"—after entering LEGALLY—and being lumped in with gang members and cartels by dipshit podcasters who don't care about winning elections, because losing is better for their ratings.

So yeah, this community is furious. You would be too. And its congresswoman is channeling that frustration. You don't have to agree with her. But if you're reading this, odds are she isn't your congresswoman. Her job is to represent the people who elected her, not you.

If that bothers you, your problem isn't with her, it's with the (small r) republican form of government. And Republicans, of all people, should know why that matters.

Today, I was grateful to join law enforcement, first responders, and members of our community to remember September 11th.

We honor the lives lost, the families who still carry that loss, and the courage of those who ran toward danger to help others.

May we continue to stand together as Americans, reject hatred and division, and respect the dignity of every person.

Yes I can't deliver minority or undecided votes with this rhetoric. Neither can anyone painting whole communities with one brush. That's the actual fight.
What you call pandering, I call outreach. Trump got 32% of the Muslim vote in 2024. Real outreach moves real numbers. Fear politics burns them down.

Before you read these words, know this: If @Junaid4VA could deliver Muslim voters for Republicans, he'd be a member of the General Assembly right now. But he isn't, and he can't.

He's misrepresenting @Julie4Virginia's positions with straw men. I know this because I've discussed these issues with her personally. Minorities aren't a monolith and she made serious efforts to reach out to some of the groups he describes that would be receptive to GOP messaging. But pandering to groups that aren't going to vote Republican in November just to win a primary is a very dumb idea. I am confident @Beckwith_VA10 and @LoudounGOP will soon learn this to their dismay.

I've had several intense discussions with people on the GOP side to clarify that they need to separate their views of the Muslim faith and the Islamist political ideology, and that sharia encompasses many things that are constitutionally protected. But those of us who aren't Muslim expect the same from our Muslim fellow citizens. We're not going to pander to people who are determined to violate the civil rights of Jewish Americans, or who give material support to the enemies of the United States while enjoying our hospitality. You, too, have to choose to cast these people aside.

And it's not an unreasonable request. When John F. Kennedy ran for president he was repeatedly asked whether he was Catholic first or American first, and which side he would choose if there was a conflict. He made his choice clear. And Muslim Americans need to do the same. There is no umma with the enemies of your country if you want this to be your country.

.@Julie4Virginia You ran a strong campaign on real substance education spending, special ed funding, broadband, data centers, 2nd Amendment. You should be proud of that. I've followed your campaign closely, and those are good positions.
But here's the strategic point worth making, as someone who's built real relationships across these minority communities: VA-10 isn't a 30%+ R district. You can't throw a minority community under the bus here and still win a general that works in a safe R stronghold, not here. Immigration, ICE messaging, and "Sharia" boogeyman content don't play the same way in a district like this. It simply doesn't work here.
VA-10 is roughly 18% Hispanic and 16% Asian out of a population of 820K+. That's well over 100,000 Hispanic residents, plus a sizable South Asian population that includes both Muslim and Hindu communities, plus a large independent voter bloc. This district has real potential but fear-based messaging instead of real coalition building can't win here.
I hope you built some real relationships with these groups too. A GOP nominee only has about 2.5 months after the primary to make a real case against the Democratic opponent and that's with Trump's approval at its lowest point of any president at this stage since FDR, and GOP favorability sliding right with him. That's not an environment for more of the same messaging that just lost.
To be clear, @Beckwith_VA10 won't have it easy either no Republican does right now. But if he brings something real to these communities instead of fear, he can build substantial support despite the GOP's national unpopularity. That's the difference between a campaign with a real shot and one without.
Surrounding yourself with advisors who keep reaching for the same playbook just gets you the same result.
Rooting for you to figure this out next time. You've got real, valuable friends and supporters myself included.

These were some of the issues that I campaigned on during the primary. They are not “manufactured” issues. Instead, they are real issues that matter to the residents in Virginia’s Congressional 10th District and put America first.

a. Restoring Excellence in American Education by identifying wasteful spending in schools that do not improve student outcomes and expand Career & Technical Education.

b. Advocate for students in special education by passing legislation that fully enforces IDEA dollars to be spent on students with disabilities and not bureaucratic diversions.

c. Delivering Starlink for residents in Western Loudoun, Fauquier, and Rappahannock counties, so they can have an affordable path to high-speed internet.

d. Prohibiting data center transmission lines in residential areas. Also, since VA-10 residents are having to pay data center utility bills, I would advocate to pass legislation that would require tech companies to pay data centers utility bills.

e. Defending 2nd Amendment rights by passing legislation that would prohibit financial institutions from compiling and analyzing sensitive data on law abiding Americans exercising their rights. Also, prohibit states and local governments from banning residents from carrying guns in public by advocating for the National Constitutional Carry Act.

@Junaid4VA, I will never pander to someone or a group of people that promise me money or their votes because “it won’t work” to go against my morals and principles. I lost my primary, but I gained a lot of great friends and supporters. When one door closes, another door opens.

Let’s help propel Dave Beckwith to victory. Also, please vote NO to the three proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot in November. The ballot language on these three ballots is like the language that was on the redistricting ballot because it is very deceitful and does not reflect the actual amendment wording.

Said it weeks ago: manufactured issues won't help candidates. VA-10 Republicans just proved it in primaries. The candidate who stayed focused on real issues won. The one who chased the manufactured boogeyman lost, decisively. For future consultants and advisors: don't try it in VA-10, it won't work.
