A friend dialled *544# today, and it has completely disappeared for them.

No warning. No announcement. Just… gone.

Bob Collymore died in 2019 and left us a company that still felt human.

Years later, that sweet 1GB for one hour arrived, 20 bob of pure freedom.

It became a quiet lifeline for night-shift workers, campus students, hustlers, and mothers who only needed one hour online.

Many grew to love it.

Many built our days around it.

And now it’s gone.

Replaced by more expensive, restricted, “dynamic” offers that feel colder every single day.

Bob is no longer here, and somehow, those little things that once made ordinary Kenyans feel cared for keep disappearing.

Please tell me this is only happening to afew kenyans only.

This is the Islamic Republic.

This is the story of Saleheh Akbari. And the world must know her name.

Saleheh was an operating room technician from Ardabil, Iran. During the January 2026 protests, she and her husband, Ahmad Khodaei, secretly helped protesters who had been wounded by regime forces and were too afraid to go to hospitals, fearing arrest.

They opened their home to the wounded. Saleheh treated them, bandaged their injuries, and helped remove pellets from their bodies.

The regime found out.

Security forces came to their home to arrest Ahmad. They attacked him, beating him with fists, kicks, and electric shocks.

Saleheh tried to protect her husband.

One of the regime’s men pulled out a gun and shot her in the heart.

Saleheh was killed inside her own home.

But even her death was not enough for them.

Her body was taken, along with her phone. Ahmad was arrested and abused.

Then came the part that is almost impossible to comprehend.

According to Ahmad’s testimony, members of the Revolutionary Guards went to Saleheh’s body in the morgue, gang-raped her corpse, and recorded the rape.

They then sent the images to her husband.

Read that again.

They murdered his wife.
They raped her corpse.
They filmed it.
Then they sent it to him to psychologically torture him.

Ahmad broke down. He posted a farewell message to his wife and attempted to take his own life. He survived after being taken to the hospital.

Saleheh Akbari was not armed.
She was not a terrorist.
She was a medical professional trying to save wounded people.

And for that, she was murdered.

Even after her death, the men of the Islamic Republic did not stop abusing her.

This is the Islamic Republic.

This is the root of evil in our world.

One day, I came to the kitchen wearing a black blouse. He screwed up his face and asked me why I was wearing black, saying I looked ugly in that blouse and that he didn’t like it. I told him that was fine, he didn’t have to wear it.

Then he brought our 5-year-old son into the room. “Mummy doesn’t look good in black, does she?” he asked our child. Looking at his father and knowing very well that it’s best to agree, he nodded. “Yes, black is not a nice color mummy,” he told me.

I told him he had no right to criticise my clothing, and especially no right to involve our child.

That's when the lecturing began.

For three hours, he ranted about how he has a right to give his views and how I am incapable of accepting criticism. Apparently, I was too sensitive, too fragile and I didn’t respect his opinions. I needed to work on my reactions if I wanted to improve myself.

When I tried to walk away, he followed me from one room to the next, continuing the onslaught.

A month later, I was choosing what to wear and I went to reach for my black blouse, but then I hesitated. Was it worth the hassle? Did I really have the energy to go through all that again? I decided I didn’t and I chose something else.

And this is exactly how coercive control works. You learn to choose the easier option just to keep the peace and avoid the negative consequences. And bit-by-bit you fall in line with how they want you to be, until eventually there is no part of you left. Everything about ‘you’ is exactly how they want it.

Today I say a prayer for Kizza Besigye and all political prisoners in Uganda. Besigye is critically ill and is being held in poor conditions at Luzira Maximum Security Prison. If he is not released immediately to receive specialised treatment, he will die in prison.

His former personal assistant, Sam Mugumya, was tortured nearly to death for refusing to betray Besigye and was left wheelchair-bound. He is being held in an unknown location. If KB dies in prison, Ruto is to blame for abducting him in Nairobi and handing him over to his torturers.

Uganda’s dictator, Yoweri Museveni, has been abducting, torturing, and even killing innocent Ugandans. This is a clear sign that international law applies selectively. Museveni has been in power for 40 years yet faces no sanctions, because Uganda grants oil concessions to the right Western multinationals and hires out its military for mercenary work in Somalia, South Sudan, and the Congo. The West will continue to ignore the human rights abuses occurring in Uganda as long as their interests remain unthreatened.

The dictator’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, is known for throwing tantrums online and posting death threats against the opposition. He is holding hundreds of Ugandan opposition supporters in torture dungeons and has even posted pictures of their torture. Despite this, Muhoozi, Uganda’s torturer and butcher-in-chief and effectively a war criminal, travels about without restriction.

A graduate of Sandhurst, he even attended his son Ruhamya’s graduation ceremony at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom this past week. It is as if Joseph Kony, wanted for war crimes, were allowed to attend his own son’s graduation unmolested in a country that claims to uphold the rule of law, while continuing to commit atrocities in northern Uganda.
