Omphile still missing:
Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has dismissed false social media claims that missing two-year-old Omphile Sethole has been found deceased.
Police confirmed that the toddler is still missing and that the search remains ongoing.
Omphile disappeared from her home in Ga-Mabuela village during the early hours of Saturday, 02 May 2026.
Her 52-year-old grandmother reportedly discovered her missing at around 06:00 after noticing an open window in the room.
Cases of housebreaking and kidnapping were opened by Tinmyne Police.
At the time of her disappearance, Omphile was wearing a pink jersey and black tights.
Lieutenant General Hadebe condemned the spread of misinformation, warning that false reports cause additional trauma to the family and negatively affect police investigations.
Police have urged the public not to share unverified information and appealed for anyone with credible information to come forward.
Anyone with information regarding Omphile’s whereabouts is urged to contact Sergeant Moshe Mashaba on 082 319 9448, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, the nearest police station or use the MySAPSApp anonymously.
