We stopped by a farmers market over the weekend and I was holding off on cutting into most of it so I could have local/ seasonal food for the solstice. The fruit put Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti into a whole new perspective.

If you are looking for where to submit your next #shortstory consider @mythaxis. Their next submission window is in July, giving you ample time to get your literary genius on the page. Until then, check out their stories!
While I am still keeping my writing in the archives so that it can be submitted for publication, this felt like a nice step in the right direction. I am excited to begin reading my prize, a book of poetry, once finals are over.

If you are waiting to write the perfect poem or story— stop. Seek out opportunities and keep improving as you go. Remember that it’s a numbers game and art is subjective.

Thump, thump, thump
Contracting again and again
Pressure builds, forcing #blood over the plague
Congealing with each pass
It’s been a long day
Her neck hurts and she’s so tired
Short of breath, she lays down
Unknowingly going to her final rest

I reminisce
On sidelines
Of empty
Football field
Imagining
Warlike cries
E’en tho the air
Be stilled
Games mimic
Gene memories
Of bringing
Mammoths down
The players
Imitating
Ancient hunters
Once renown
Aggression
Fuels progress
But unchecked?
In blood we’ll drown
