Every @DoctorsOfBC @BCFamilyDoctors read this: https://t.co/2pLofWlg8n A generation of women diagnosed with diseases by questionnaire — they don’t get better, told to accept disability. You can even hire the docs for the same diagnosis after a minor NON-infectious MVA. This is likely why group medical visits were just cut back. They didn’t help. Please do not use this to say that multidisciplinary care does not work. Provincial experts without a single PubMed citation?
Does anyone in #Vancouver know a good human rights lawyer who might take on a case of illegal refusals of medical care and #MAID coercion breaching human rights? Asking for a friend. (The friend is me.)
There will be no last-minute reprieve for Charleigh Pollock, the 9-yr-old girl with terminal Batten Disease, after @Dave_Eby again Friday refused to intervene to restore medication the government cut off. He said he'll follow expert drug review advice to discontinue the drug.
Please, if you live in BC, and especially if you work in healthcare or government, listen to this interview with @CCurrieadvocate. It is SO IMPORTANT.
Patients - adults and children alike - with rare and complex diseases are being failed by this province. Access to treatment, access to skilled, timely specialist care, compassion, and quality of care is so poor.
People of all ages are suffering severe and deadly medical neglect, and things desperately need to change. We pay for this system to TAKE CARE of us. Not to harm and abandon us. #Care4ComplexBC #bcpoli #cdnhealth
Think about it—this decision has far-reaching consequences. The BC govt is withholding life-altering meds without ever meeting the #patient or consulting on their #Medical status. That sets a dangerous precedent. It’s a slippery slope, not just for this family, but for all of us.
@firedpatients That surgeon literally refused to admit I had crippling endometriosis until he cut it out of me. I had a diagnosis from two other specialists including his boss.
He's only interested in patients who want to maintain fertility.
@arianek The person who suggested you try street drugs during a toxic drug crisis and with no relation between the treatments you need and street drugs was really something else.
@arianek I've added allergy eye drops to my nasal spray and double doses of loratadine so yeah, every plant I'm allergic to seems to be going full throttle at once.
@heyMAKWA The way early "explorers" write about the "natural bounty" of the land, the way you could walk through a forest that was so fruitful it was almost impossible to believe it happened purely by chance, yet somehow didn't put one and one together, is ridiculous.
@arianek My case is ridiculous, I had a fall and was told to self monitor and go to the ER "if I showed concussion symptoms" then for nine years nobody tested to see if I was concussed, including a neurologist.
Concussed people, it turns out, aren't good at self assessing.
Canada, I love you and visit you often 🇨🇦, but.... what's up with your non-existent care for patients with #autonomic disorders? If you think things are bad in the US, it's nothing compared to what my Canadian patients are going through, especially if they live up North or West Coast of Canada. I am more than happy to talk to my Canadian colleagues of all specialties who are interested in learning how to take care of their patients with autonomic disorders, including autonomic #neuropathy and ganglionopathy, #POTS and others.
P.S. Your Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) program IS NOT the answer, but treatment of autonomic disorders, autoimmune disorders and mast cell activation syndrome IS.
