@LancashireCC our street has been flooded since 5pm. Myself and my neighbours are just about to be flooded. We have been calling you lot, @unitedutilities and the police since then to help us as the same thing happened 7wks ago. Fire have been out and advised they can’t soak away
@unitedutilities Hi Emma, it’s been hellish none of us have slept all night for fear of the water coming in. The council are saying it’s you lot that need to fix it and you’ll be out this morning (that was at 5pm yesterday) and it was your guys here fixing drainage issues last time.
And we’ve been told to call the police if it comes in the houses. It’s pretty much in our homes already.
no one knows the right people to call and you’re all diverting us to each other. Meanwhile we are watching the water unable to do anything.
I’m genuinely intrigued. As a daughter who takes care of her father and the sole breadwinner I’m not entitled to help because I ‘earn too much money’ even though I’m JUST above the threshold. I pay for all the bills and financially struggling to survive. Help me make sense of it
@ShonaRobisonMSP I have just read an article you commented on regarding higher earners in Scotland and income tax. I earn just over the threshold and classed as a ‘high earner’ which makes me laugh in itself and also disgusted all at the same time. I’m not the only one either
1) can you advise when these tax brackets were created
2) when was the last time they were reviewed?
3) how was the decision made that someone earning over £43k is a ‘high earner’ and should contribute more
4) what is the similarity for someone earning £43k to £125k?
@HumzaYousaf@RishiSunak@HumzaYousaf I would love for you to look at tax rate brackets as this is something that has got my dumbfounded since I started my new role. How can someone in Scotland earning £43,000 be on the same tax bracket as someone earning up to £150,000? Please make this make sense.
@lucysiegle And MPs wonder why our country has become a joke! 😂 if this were any normal worker HMRC would have made sure they were sent to jail over tax avoidance. Yet this idiot had a sit down chat with his advisors, handed a penalty and miraculously paid it and that’s it. Jail him!
@jameson97987749 I’m so sorry you’ve been having a rough time too 😔 it’s horrible to get to this feeling and I genuinely wish you can pull yourself out the hole of despair. 🧡
@AmiracleCapital I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling that way too. It’s horrible and yeah the last 6 months have been beyond rough just feel there’s nothing left. Please don’t be like me and let it get the better of you. 🧡
@thehorsetrack Im trying to @thehorsetrack Probably had the worst last 6 month of my life. Not a pity party as I know others are suffering more than me. But I’m just exhausted and done with life. just feel like the fights gone 😔
Can anyone explain to me how someone earning £43k in Scotland can possibly be put in the ‘High Earner’ category and in the same tax band as people earning up to £100k…I feel like I’m missing something. It’s barely enough to survive at the moment
