@leona_tuck@griptmedia But I would suggest that it's government that drives legislation that allows for short sentences. In my mind most sentences handed out in Ireland are way too short
@leona_tuck@griptmedia I was referring to his record with child sex offenders. The sentencing is down to government. I cannot comment on the case in your pinned post judge Nolan is generally known (wrongly) for being lenient in these cases. Again I don't know the ins and outs of the case.
@griptmedia This guy runs the country and shapes society, he is speaking about his own failures. And the best part is he doesn't realize he's literally critiquing himself and his party and government. But ultimately it's not his fault, we the Irish people keep voting FGFF back in so ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ.....
@leona_tuck@griptmedia Ok you need to talk only about what you know about. Judge Nolan gives out the maximum sentences of 1 year suspended to first time offenders caught with child image's who have no previous. The government need to legislate to allow him give bigger sentences. He is giving the max
@Nick_Delehanty See I've no problem with politician's making mistakes like this. But for FFS when u make a mistake own up, say we didn't see it having that effect and change course to rectify it. But instead our thicks just say I don't accept that it's a failure and keep going with it
@SimonHarrisTD Under your watch, young Irish people are leaving one of the "richest" countries in the world to live abroad because they cannot afford housing. Let that sink in, you are presiding of a time of unheard of wealth and your government can't house Irish people. FAILURE!
@SimonHarrisTD Ya wouldn't think so cos you lot have completely failed on housing. The situation with housing had never been so bad in Ireland. Also your party FG allowed vulture funds in so you basically made housing a commodity. And now people have to compete with wall street types to buy!

So this lot are suggesting that if you have a scholarship to an Irish college, you should be given entry into the county even if you can't meet out seemingly weak entry requirements? Labour once again, are trying to become PBP?

I can't remember trinity college on the ballot paper in the last election? As far as I'm aware getting offered a place in college does not waive the requirement to qualify to enter Ireland. Maybe Trinity should stick to teaching.
@fergal197023407@john_mcguirk REALLY! Ya can't win so don't try? This government has failed completely on law and order. They fault out refuse to increase sentencing for first time offenders caught with nasty images of kids. How is that like squeezing toothpaste? It's one example but it's on of many.
@john_mcguirk Haven't we all realized by now that this government will only does what benefits itself, no real benefit to stopping crime, if stopping crime got them reflected or nice cushy jobs in the EU we'd have been crime free years ago!
@Nick_Delehanty Judge Nolan takes a pile of St ck for allowing them to walk when in fact he is imposing tye maximum sentence available to him. Jim O'Callaghan was asked about it recently and he basically said it would take away judicial discretion if he increased sentencing for these guys.
@Nick_Delehanty Prisons are too expensive to they won't lock people up unless they have to, they then release them as quickly as possible. And politicians are too weak to impose harder punishment. Just look at the situation around guys with child sex images who've no previous record, they walk!
@Nick_Delehanty Is anyone surprised? No punishment in this country. There are people who like ve their lives leaching from the state and doing whatever they want and they never get punished or sanctioned. It amazes me how many people in Ireland are oblivious to this.
@AndyMOBrien@OdohertyI64991 1. Why are u being so aggressive?
2. Any college that reviews its own PhD awards for wrong doing is in the position of if we find that we allowed a major error to pass the PhD process it then calls all our PhDs into question. So it's not settled at all.
3. RIP to Jason
@DocHolidayzzz@Nick_Delehanty NGOs are like quangos, they exist to shield government and ministers from responsibility. If the government actually did their jobs and people in government took responsibility we'd not need most of the NGOs.
