@edzitron You would think they would spend a tiny amount of money on public speaking courses. But of course when the money speaks for you, I guess it's wasted effort.
@edzitron Maybe my expectations are really high because I'm older, but I have noticed that people like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, many of these tech bros, have a real problem with speech disfluency. They use a lot of vocal fillers and it just makes them sound stupid.
@TJLisoski@NonExDad@JillFilipovic They don't care, it's only about black and white thinking. As long as one other person somewhere dies from a gun, that's the only justification they need. It's all or nothing. Saving a few lives isn't worth anything to them.
@gemmanaya@AlexToughTakes Yeah, they keep forgetting that normal is just an average of weird, but they don't like that "weird" is still in the measurement. Hiding in your living room doesn't make history.
@Iamjaneezy Exhausted workers competing against one another can't find the energy to assemble the guillotine. At least for a while. Once this goes too far, those with nothing to lose will find the energy.... We know why oligarchs want bunkers.
@neonxgone@RyDawgE_ Yeah, the problem is the people using AI are the ones that have to get better. And since they didn't want to put the work into learning in the first place, I don't have much hope.
@Ameshist174947@EZE3D From what I can tell from the short comments you are entitled and you expect to walk in the door and run the show. That's not how that works. You shut up and do as you're told until you work your way up. You prove your worth over time. You don't walk in as king.
@Ameshist174947@EZE3D You can do risky things on your own time, if you're getting paid, do what the client tells you. Until you are the art director, you are the hands bringing it to life. You can make suggestions and ask questions, but you have to do what they want at the end of the day.
@Ameshist174947@EZE3D I would work with producers to bid on commercial work. It's very competitive. If you think agencies for the Publicis Group are going to go to every single studio in existence to bid out work then I don't know what reality you live in.
@Ameshist174947@EZE3D So my guess is you've never worked in an art focused career because you have to have a portfolio and you have to bid on work either individually or as a creative studio. Your clients are going to shop around. There is not an infinite amount of work for any industry.
@Grim_Harbor@EZE3D And I have seen so many terrible experiences even with little apps that people put together. I have had to rewrite documentation to make it readable for artists because it was written by engineers. People don't understand. It's incredibly important. Art translates.
@Ameshist174947@EZE3D Because it is highly competitive. You're talking about generating work that an agency may be spending millions of dollars producing. Or over a hundred million for a feature animation. When you're spending that money, you tend to choose the best you can get.
@DaveRob48526990@EZE3D I see things change from shot to shot that are supposed to be consistent. I see birds fly through walls. I see characters warp if the shot goes too long. I see scale issues everywhere. And stilted performances by synthetic characters. But I guess it beats paying for an artist....
@DaveRob48526990@EZE3D I hear it all the time that artists should work for free because it gets us "exposure." And how education in art is "useless." And we should get a "useful" degree/job. Constantly. And now with genAI projects I used to work on are done on a box with tons of errors, but cheaply.
@Esno0nEs Once more "vibe coded" projects begin replacing Adobe, Autodesk, Sales force, etc software, they may kill it their self. They didn't think very far ahead.
@dnwest1044@ChazzonKe@pepperdine@KatieZacharia@PeppLaw You leave out that they don't just graduate and get licensed. You have to go through an alternate route if you don't pass the bar that's required after graduating. She didn't do that either.
