@theseanodell @scott_lowe ‘VM’ is synonymous with VMware. So vSphere aside, VM-anything still triggers VMware on the brain. VMware Explore sounds like some free software I would have used back in the early days of VMware Workstation.

@drusse11 It’s ugly. Mostly due to switching between a Mac Mini & MacBook Pro. Currently using HDMI KVM w/ multi port adapters in between. It’s not pretty. I’ve yet to see a USB-C KVM that allows single cable connectivity for inputs + video out to my USB-C monitor(s)

Home Networking Question: I had over 40 CAT6a drops run to a closet that will house a 42U Rack. Wondering what the ideal option is for terminating the CAT6a at the closet/rack side. Just do RJ45 connectors? Just do Keystones? Keystones + blank patch panel? Hardwired Patch Panel?

@john_arends Great point. You are so right about the flexibility and thickness of CAT6a. I have a bit of concern about connecting the ceiling mounted POE AP’s since I won’t have wall jacks there.

@DeepStorageNet Any recommendations for a CAT6a punch down panel? One concern was if the internal board dies I lose all connections and have to re-do all the work. Thoughts?

@ucs_dave That is a good point and was one of my concerns. My thought was, if I just terminate with RJ45 I can elimenate unnecessary/extra connections, but I lose the ability to lengthen or shorten the cable. I’d probably end up with feet and feet of extra cable suffed inside the rack.
