This is whats left of the sandhills of NE from the Morrill Fire. So when I say that the hay being bought in is in deep heartfelt thanks, this is why.
It will be a very long time before some of this is grazeable again. Most folks looking at this would have no clue this was in Nebraska, most would say its the Sahara.
For the bulk of the past 28 years, I've given far more bad news than good news. I don't enjoy it, and there's nothing worse than talking about drought and fire danger. However, I always want you to be prepared and I cannot underscore this enough...IF you don't have a wildfire plan crafted, I strongly suggest that you do so. Aside from this next 24 hours, we'll likely have issues again on Saturday. Forecast wind gust animation from Saturday, 6 AM MDT - Sunday, 6 AM MDT. Just be damn careful...#desertfarmers #cowx #kswx #newx #okwx #txwx #nmwx
A fast-moving wildfire has burned about 80,000 acres in six hours in the Ashby area, according to fire officials. The town of Ashby and portions of Hyannis have been evacuated. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says structures have been burned, and local homeowners report the fire reached the town.

Nebraska Has Been On Fire And Nobody's Talking About It. Over 900,000 Acres Have Been Torched Due To The One Of The Largest Wildfires In US History https://t.co/XxRh6NahJA
Neither Nebraska or Iowa players have been here before. The only one with experience is Nebraska's coach. So if anyone has an advantage in that department, it would be Nebraska, but its a very slim one. There is no more pressure on either side than the other, IMO. Both have over achieved this year and are playing with house money.
Its such a dumb argument to say Iowa has been here before. Not one of Iowa's players or coaches have been here before. Did that matter for Indiana in football when they won the title? No, it comes down to this year's team in this game. Nebraska playing in the Crown last year and having the run they did, is probably more relevant than what Iowa did 27 years ago making the Sweet 16, or even what Coach Hoiberg did 12 years ago with Iowa St. History that long ago has 0 effect on what teams this year do. Experience, however, has a much greater effect.
The tight game definitely didn't work in Iowa's favor, its what kept Florida in the game. They shot 27 free throws, making 20 of them. Florida shot 19 three's. The difference is Nebraska is a much better 3 point shooting team than Florida. Nebraska won't miss the wide open looks that Florida misses consistently.
The only chance Iowa has is if Nebraska shoots below 30% from the 3 point line. If Nebraska makes 10 3's they are 24-2. Iowa was literally the only matchup Nebraska could get of all the Sweet 16 teams where they are the more deeper and more talented team. Iowa has beaten teams they shouldn't, i.e. Florida, but they also lost to teams like Penn St.
Iowa is 5-7 in close games (6 points or fewer), which ranks 249th in the country. Iowa is 4th worst in the Big Ten when it comes to allowing 10-0 runs (via @EvanMiya ) due to their stagnant offense. This was the biggest thing in last nights game vs Florida, is Florida never had one of those. Against public perception, Iowa is one of the worst in late shot clock shooting %'s at 34% from 2 and 23% from 3.
Nebraska will be satisfied to let Iowa run the shot clock down and take last minute desperation shots. Iowa shot just 29% in late shot clock attempts in the 2 games so far. It will come down to Nebraska execution and shooting on the offensive end and with the game most likely being called much tighter than their 2 previous matchups, Nebraska has a distinct edge.

🚨CRAZY: Nebraska fans broke the db record in OKC's arena (where they won game 7 of the Finals):
115 decibles - Nebraska bball fans
112 desibles - OKC Thunder fans
115 db is the loudest recorded crowd at Paycom Center.
Here are current annual snowpack levels across the west compared to yearly averages.
Rough.
On yesterday’s show, I covered the Western Governors Association’s comments on ways they are trying to enhance the collective snowpack across the American West to reduce wildfire risk.
***Nebraska is in the middle of a devastating wildfire emergency.***
It is the worst wildfire destruction our state has ever experienced. Nearly three quarters of a million acres have already been consumed, and the fires continue to spread with no containment in sight.
The Morrill Fire, the largest ever recorded in Nebraska, along with the Cottonwood, Anderson Bridge, and Road 203 fires, are sweeping across the state with force. Highways are closing. Families are being forced to evacuate. A state of emergency has been declared. And heartbreakingly, a life has already been lost.
The conditions are fueling the chaos. Strong winds. Dry land. Fire moving faster than it can be fought.
This situation is not under control.
In a moment like this, Nebraska needs more than manpower and resources. We need prayer.
SCARY SIGHT: Aerial footage captures the raging, uncontained wildfires across Nebraska, where more than 500,000 acres of land have burned in just a few days' time.
A state of emergency has been declared by Gov. Jim Pillen, who said he's thankful that President Trump immediately approved FEMA funding to help fight the fires.
"The challenge is great, but we have the toughness, know-how, and partners to see it through."
These photos come from inside the Cottonwood Fire burn area in Nebraska.
A trail camera owned by Jordan Adams went straight through the wildfire and was left completely melted. When he recovered it, he carefully opened the camera and found the SD card inside was still intact.
The photos were saved.
They’re date- and time-stamped, giving a rare look at how quickly the fire moved through the landscape.

Nebraska wildfires ripped across the landscape last night, with the pilot who sent these images in saying they mapped this fire at 72 miles long. The Road 203 Fire south of Halsey was mapped at 36,000 acres, but could be larger this morning.
Multiple wildfires were active through the night and evacuation orders went out for many rural communities. Insane views of these fires. Thanks to the subscriber and pilot who shared these incredible images of these Nebraska fires.
